Is this real life? (Re: Steve Blake)

If Fish is involved in this, I'm nearly 100% certain that he'd want to be bought out, and that would be contingent on him not opting in.

could be, but my point was it wouldn't necessarily be cheap to buy him out because of the player option. not sure why we'd trade for him just to do that when there are other options.

Just what we need to revitalize this team. A guy who's been a Blazer twice before, has a limited game, and will not make a bit of difference.

I dont think it's about revitalizing....it's about management aborting 1 of 2 mistakes on the team and rebuilding in the offseason so to speak

Joe Freeman tweets:
Coach Mac said Crawford will be in uniform and will play tonight vs Knicks. Said management has not told him to hold Crawford out

I don't even give a shit about Blake... if he was expiring I would actually be somewhat happy that Crawford was gone... it's the 8 million fucking dollars that he's due over the next two seasons that piss me off. I seriously don't know how the team can be this stupid.

Dave McMenamin (Lakers reporter) tweets:
Steve Blake just arrived at the arena with the rest of the team. Walked into the locker room like everything was normal.

The game tonight should be interesting. I think I'm going to watch it just to see two teams in complete free fall . . .

8 million--- big deal, PA wipes his ass with a million everyday...... the history of the blazers shows that we do this with our money......im surprised we're not all used to it by now.

8 million in cap space, 4 of which that would have been available this summer to get someone who is actually good.

and who is "good" that wants to come play here.... This team absolutely destroys any semblance of "good" a player has had....... I hope we get Blake, and I hope this team tanks. We need an overhaul starting with the coach.

I would take the chance at singing someone "good" this summer over the promise of Steve Blake being on this roster for two more years.

if we tank, and we overhaul, why the fuck would we bring in Blake at 4 million a year then? Send Crawford to minnesota for Beasley. Cut Felton. Fire Nate. Go forward.

Yes, I can see why you'd be hopeful of that scenario, what with the Blazers rich history of signing marquee free agents... it's practically tradition.

And when we do sign free agents, we either overpay for them or trade them before the deadline in a lockout shortened season.

the option or possibility is still better than just taking it away for a below average player.

This is a smart financial move by the Blazers since they already have a warehouse full of Steve Blake jerseys and bobblehead dolls to sell from the last two times Blake was here.

Something tells me Paul and Larry were pretty terrible at Monopoly (or any other strategy-boardgame) as kids?

yeah, maybe they can fill the rose garden with the bobbleheads and count it as a sell out.

I am reserving judgment to see what (if anything!) comes from this, but I'm not really enjoying the outcomes that seem likely...

I would rather have someone like Wesley Matthews (who we signed as a free agent) than Steve Blake. Shit, you could spin blindly at the local 24 Hour Fitness and pick someone who is a better prospect/player than Blankey.

no chit, but with our clustefukked up mgmt chit like this is no surprise

There really is only one thing I can say: Pure garbage. I'm not even going to bother ranting. I can only shake my head.

Dwight Jaynes ‏ @dwightjaynes
I do not believe Blake will be a part of that three-way trade. Portland wants another draft pick but don't want that Blake contract.

Crawford not out there currently warming up.

Joe Freeman ‏ @BlazerFreeman

A source tells me there is legs to the three-team trade that would send Jamal Crawford to Minny and Steve Blake to Portland.

Jamal for Luke would be a steal for us. Why involve the Lakers?

The question I have is.... if we're making a move for Blake, why not deal Felton to LA for Blake, as was rumored earlier? Keep the more valuable player in JC and see if a deal materializes for him tomorrow.

But if we deal JC for Blake, we'll have him and be stuck with Felton. Sounds like a terrible idea.

It's sad that it's come down to me feeling better about dealing Felton for Blake because I HATE JC for Blake. Thanks for beating me down, Blazers management.

I'll reserve a little judgment but you are correct, if we take Blake back it's just more confirmation how screwed up our mgmt is
