1.5 assists per game, yet a usage rate of 22.6%.

Shooting from a shooting guard? Terrible! :)

Ed O.

I know. I just was reading earlier here from one of the experts how Roy is a ballhog who doesn't get his teammates baskets. Roy's 5 assists/36 vs. Matthews' 2 assists/36.

I dunno. 'Splain it to me, peeps!

In Nate's snailball system 1.5 assists is equivalent to 5-ish normal NBA assists :devilwink:

I have called him a chucker since day 1.

Eh, a chucker is someone that takes shots out of the flow of the offense(contain your laughing) imo. Wesley doesn't really do that at all. He stays within the offense.

Matthews is not used in the same capacity or situations as Roy. Roy was the primary ball handler in our ISO offense, Matthews almost never is. I've seen him make a fair amount of great passes and I can't remember many times where I actually thought he should have passed. I don't think he is a ballhog.

I don't remember saying to myself nOOOOOOOOOOOOOO on any of his shots, so No I don't think so.

You know who else is a ballhog? That Brandon Roy. What a ballhog!

Gee.....maybe that is why he wasn't drafted out of college - he has holes in his game!

Matthews is a nice complimentary player who is being asked to do too much. He is still, however, an upgrade over Webster, and at least as useful as Outlaw.

I don't think Wes is a ballhog. He does take a fair number of bad shots. With Matthews, you have to accept a certain number of bad plays with the good, and he provides both.

Yes, but they didn't bring him in here to pass the rock. Defense and hustle is why he is here. Unfortunately we are depending on him on the offensive end in a way we didnt think we needed to.

That's a good point. I only ask because I've seen it posted that Matthews is a solid long-term replacement for Roy, and I just don't see it unless another player of Roy's caliber is picked up at either PG or SF. Replacing Roy with Matthews, with everything else staying the same, is a net loss IMO.

Roy has basically the same usage rate as Matthews this season, yet he is assisting at nearly 2x the rate as Matthews. That's during a terrible season by Roy, FWIW.

Well better get used to him, he's our SG of the future. Imagine where we would be had we NOT signed 'em!

Bayless dropped 30+ on the Spurs when he started for Roy. I guess that's where we would be?

you now BS and that's about it

You should put me on ignore then, instead of getting in these petty arguments and taking stupid shots at me. We are all just here to have fun, and if ou aren't ignore me

interesting what you consider "fun" in how you post

You have envy issues, don't you? You need to deal with the fact that even though I am negative, I know basketball.

I really haven't seen any proof of this claim. Your repetitive "Ass Clown" mantra seems trollish, IMO. It pretty much kills your BBIQ credibility, at least in my eyes.

It is trollish

Wesley Matthews is here to defend, to hustle his butt off and to score. I don't expect him to get assists, and don't care when he doesn't as long as he's doing two of the three previous things. It won't happen EVERY game, but it has in a lot so far, and I've been happy with it.

He's got a little bit of chucker to his game, but I never feel like he's being a ball-stopper (well, not much anyway) and his hustle on D and ability to run a one man fast break does a pretty nice job of countering the negatives about his game. Then again, he's only a second year player, so maybe he's still got a little bit of room to grow ... but probably not a ton given his age.

Dude is obviously a chucker and a ball hog. Look what he's doing to Utah? I bet they wouldn't want him on their team. Not at all.
