And I will tell you Sly, I have served 6 years in the US Navy, 40 years in business and several years working for myself. I know of no one that thinks this fellow is of the stature of the names on that list. But perhaps they exist. When Johnson finally gets only a destroyer in 2018, he'll have been dead 47 years.

Republican Theodore Roosevelt has a supercarrier. Democrat Franklin Roosevelt, a generation closer in time with WW2, and stopping the Depression from destroying us, gets a destroyer.

Schools, hospitals, street, ships... get named after President because they were a US President, not because they were any good at it or not. It's an honor that goes with the office, not the man (or woman, if it ever comes to that). Therefore, I suppose a ship will be named after him. It certainly makes sense.

And the Mike Rice Jr thread was a judgement call, while it didn't start off being a perfect Blazer forum subject by the time I read it it had turned into a conversation about Rice Sr and other Blazer broadcasters so I thought it should stay.

Huh? Marazul is anti-gay (I don't use the word homophobe) due to his religion, which I can respect if he's courteous and respectful about it, though I don't agree. His picture of a boat is on every one of his many anti-gay posts. So Maris just made a joke that he's an anti-gay sailor. He said nothing about Obama.
