It's funny, but I saw her with him at a Blazers preseason game many, many years ago, way before the Mrs. HCP jokes started. So, I can't bring myself to make rude comments about someone I've seen in person. I will just say this. He married up. Way to go HCP!

I liked Mike and Mike but this is a terrible analogy. (The take is terrible not you) I in no way vowed to be true to Mike and Mike only for the rest of my life.

I will truly say that Rice was awesome as a color announced in that I was entertained by him every game. He had knowledge and made me laugh in a way hardly any other color commentator has. Barret was a very good guy who called the game very well. He was not to hubris as to point out when he was wrong but still helped me feel the emotions as a Blazer fan.

If the organization deems there needed to be an upgrade then they should do what they think is best. I will have a bigger problem if they are changing it every 5 years. Stability is great I don't want a revolving door, but I foresee more changes coming and it may be the right time for this.

I didn't intend to equate this to the vows of marriage as much as I intended to compare it to the break up of a perfectly fine relationship just for the sake of experiencing something new; perhaps for the better or perhaps not. That one feels the need to make this change is what I am criticizing.

For me, every successive year Mike Barrett put into the team was one more stripe on his lapel. Of course, this was all predicated on him being competent, likable, enthusiastic, and engaged. Oh, but he was. It's fine if it's a poor analogy. I'm not the one touting this as a good decision because it fostered discussion in an otherwise mundane off-season.

Some people do, because that's his job.

Again, not ragging on MB. As you said, over the years, he's become more and more competent, but he's still not in the same class as Kevin Calabro. That may not matter to you, but it does to me.

I look forward to hearing Calabro calling the games next year, but also wish both Mikes well in their future endeavors, whether that is with another team, or if it's a local radio talk show. If the latter, I'm sure I'll tune in regularly. I actually think their unique banter would be better suited to a radio show than live game action.

You just don't always have to go for better. Barrett was solid, extremely competent. Is he as good as Calabro? No, but he was fine to listen to, was a great ambassador for the team, fans loved him, and when I met him he was a hell of nice guy.
