It's Calabro!!!!!

Welcome to our community

Be a part of something great, join today!

It will always be a concern of mine but as all of you know by my posting record...I'm ridiculous.

Nice choice though by McGowan and once again you didn't disappoint. Way to go, Chris!

Welcome back, buddy! It's nice seeing you posting again.

Calabro is a great pick. Miles better than Mike B if I'm expressing my opinion.

FIFY.

I'm holding judgment until I've heard him call a few games. The clips I've heard are a little on the over-excited OMG! scale for my tastes, but it's a small sample size.

I have no problem with them hiring Calabro. He's really good. I hate that the President of our team fired an extremely popular team with the promise of bigger and better things, when really it's all about market share in Seattle

I can't agree with the ALL part when indeed they did deliver on their promise. We all love Mike and Mike, but
Calabro is bigger and better. And in time we will love him too.

Look I love CJ more than anyone on this board, he is like family, and it would pain me to trade him. But MM of people on this board, are you saying we should not trade him for LeBron if we had the chance? And Yes I am saying Calabro is like LeBron, maybe getting up there in years, but still one of the best in the game.

I'm really happy about this move....seeing as Brent Barry went to OSU and loves Pearl Jam I think we have a shot at getting him. PLEASE NO HUBIE BROWN! That's my biggest concern...and no Jon Barry or Mark Jackson

I have actually been thinking about Brent Barry, and he makes a lot of sense. Oregon connections, played in Seattle as well. He fits the mold that they seem to be looking for.

Disappointed. They fired an excellent and vibrant 48 y. o. for a 60 y. o. in the hopes that more Seattlites will tune in. He'll be with the team for 5 or 6 years before they decide that they need someone younger.

I'd think that he has to be on the short list for consideration.

I think he would fit well with Calabro. Barry now works as a sports commentator for TNT and is a studio host for "NBA Gametime".

You contradicted yourself. They hired him because he's really good at what he does, arguably the best in the business. Maybe what it's really all about is providing Portland fans with the best possible listening experience.

I love the hire and look forward to see who his broadcast partner will be. The Blazers managed to steal Calabro away from ESPN. That gives me hope they may also be able to steal someone like Smitty, Greg Anthony or Brent Barry away to join him. And yes, I know both Anthony and both played for the Sonics once upon a time, but that doesn't change the fact that they are good at what they do.

little on the over-excited OMG!

He is. I went to several games in Seattle with a friend a few years back. I thought the guy was annoying, but it might be better when he is on the Blazer team.
That is not my worry about he guy though, I don't like the look of hiring a Seattle guy.

I mentioned before that Wheels is a Chicago guy and Rice was a Detroit guy...I'm glad we don't just sign Oregonian players because they're from Oregon

It doesn't give you any pleasure knowing how pissed off Sonic fans are right now that they not only lost their team to OKC but now their beloved announcer to PORTLAND? I look at it as shoving the knife in a little deeper.

From any where but Seattle would be fine. We shall see if this guy moves from Seattle. He won't if the commute to Portland is temporary.

We need to get some home cooking for the color commentator like Walton or Roy to go along with the Sonics legend Calabro. While Barry makes sense in some respects , that would be to much seattle...

Portland is the Blazers home to stay....I don't believe for a second that they'll ever be stolen by another city...you don't throw away a home crowd in pro sports like the Blazers have. Totally solid, successful fanbase that just got an upgrade at the broadcast booth.

And he is the absolutely opposite of his idiot brother Jon.

He knows the game, can analyze everything on the court, and is articulate. Would be a major coup if we could get him.

Barry played for Oregon State
