I'll buy that. I am rather like Bruce Wayne, although I would like to stipulate that I do not have a young male "ward" with whom I like to dress up in tight outfits.

So which Batman character would you be? I don't know the oeuvre very well, so I looked at a list, and I think you'd have to be Mr. Bloom:
"His goal is to murder everyone in Gotham City to start all over again."

Even Thanos only wanted to kill half of all people... But that was Avengers, so not relevant...

I love Batman, but as the newer iterations came out it was clear he was actually the antagonist in many ways. I highly recommend the Ultimate Edition of Batman v Superman. He found his humanity again at the end of that and became more of a uniter in Zack Snyder's Justice League.

Bane took the populist message of Bernie Sanders and turned it into a weapon. Even he recognized it couldn't be saved. Perhaps I have some Bane in me. A little bit of Joker to prove the rules are bullshit.

"People of Gotham, take back your city!"

"Introduce a little anarchy, upset the established order, and everything becomes chaos."

Not a fan of the circus?

Not sure what Batman character I'd be. Probably more like Batman than Bruce Wayne.

Is it bad for me to get somewhat excited for a major recession. Honestly, I want it to particularly be harsh for Trump voters.

I think it is bad to wish for that. It's kind of hard not to, though...

Unfortunately, according to those that study authoritarian regimes, hard times caused by an authoritarian leader actually increase the support of the cultists.

If you are stupid enough to believe "only <dear leader> can fix it", then the more problems there are, the more you need your dear leader to stay in power.

Whatever happens here in the US of A will be Joe Biden's fault, except for the stuff that is Obama's fault, or trans people's fault, or immigrants' fault, or Canada's fault...

They might as well just lemur themselves off a cliff.

On behalf of my brothers at the American Association of Lemur Posters, I am writing to let you know that we lemurs do not throw ourselves off cliffs.

Says the guy whose generation enjoyed the most spoils and resources this nation has ever given. Sure thing.
Just one more poor, put upon Boomer Blamer. I won't speak for my fellow Boomers but this country didn't "give" me anything (except perhaps white privilege. And that is a world wide thing). And I personally am sick and tired of being blamed or dissed by people like you who are unhappy with their lot in life. I ate a great deal of shit, both literally and figuratively to be able to have what I have and I don't owe anyone an apology. "Spoils" is a stupid word because we, as individuals did not "take" from anyone. I have paid into Social Security since I was 12 years old and into Medicare since I was 14 years old (the year Medicare was created). I have earned what I have through my own efforts. If you are unhappy with how things are, blame the rich, the oligarchs and the ignorant, intellectually lazy and/or bankrupt people who support them. But quit shitting on the heads of the very people who are pretty much in the same boat as you, regardless of generation or what we might have been able to accomplish despite the numerous roadblocks that WE had to face. Attitudes like yours are EXACTLY what the MAGA crowd are trying to instigate in order to keep the rest of us divided and unable to respond effectively. Quit playing their game.

Who is blaming boomers? Not I. Lots of deflection in your post. Telling me I don't enjoy my life or am unhappy is a tell. I probably enjoy my life more than most. My concern is for my fellow Americans who can't afford simple things like healthcare and housing. If my concern makes me an unhappy person, then so be it.

What you got is what is what everyone should get. But the rules have changed, haven't they? But it's rich when boomers tell younger generations to vote this way or that way when it isn't making a dent in the system. Shitting on voters who voted differently than you is how you keep people divided. Convincing yourself that people who voted differently are the problem. Wake up and stop playing their game. You putting words in my mouth isn't going to help. I've never once blamed boomers, but don't come around here acting like things are fine and dandy and if we just vote a certain way it'll magically get better.

That ain't it.

Not sure what that has to do with your bothsiderism.

I can't speak for my generation, and certainly not for yours, but I will say my own path from upper-lower class to lower-upper class is a path that could be replicated by a young person today, or at least could have been until the last few weeks.

Magically getting better isn't the point. Getting better isn't something you can do with magic, it takes actual effort.
Nor is it something you can do by demolishing things. "We had to destroy the village in order to save it" is utter bullshit.
Thinking you can improve things by destroying them is magical thinking.

The last few weeks should be enough evidence that things can actually get significantly worse if bad choices are made.

Your words. I simply responded. So yeah, you DID blame Boomers. And sorry, anyone who voted for a convicted felon and adjudicated sex offender (let's don't forget multiple bankruptcies, insurrection, two impeachment's, etc, etc, etc) IS the problem and I DO blame them. No apologies or excuses made. This country is full of ignorant, if not criminally stupid people. If it wasn't, you and I wouldn't even be having this conversation. And ANYTHING is better than what we have at this moment. I am fully in the @Strenuus camp on this.....and I didn't even need a reach around to get there.

How would you know that though? Seems like more of a guess.

Things have gotten worse economically in this country since the 80's. Both Republican and Democrats contributed to the conditions. Lots of people worked hard. This is a fairy tale. The system must fall if it has any chance to improve and serve the people.

How would you know that though? Seems like more of a guess.

Because I know how I did it, and what systems were in place that helped me do it, and what economic conditions were necessary for success.

That isn't blaming booomers, that's an observation. It's like talking to Mitt Romney about the economy. We don't expect you to understand the plight of other generations.

Do you blame Democrats for re-electing Marion Barry as mayor? I liken it to the same thing. These are protest votes against the system.

Obviously I didn't vote for Trump and never would, but I don't blame voters for voting against the failing establishment. Stop taking aim at your fellow Americans and unite against the system who robs you.

Many of those systems are not in place now. Obviously. And you reiterating to vote a certain ways speaks to that disconnect.

I certainly do. Eric Adams as well. And the NJ senator with the gold bars - I'm blanking on his name right now.
And any other corrupt politician, I blame those that voted for them.
Voting for more corruption as a protest against corruption is fucking idiotic.

I agree. Unfortunately, if you don't vote for corruption you aren't likely to be voting for either party. I know there is a spectrum of corruption, but if the line is "don't vote for corruption" then you'd be sitting out nearly every election and seat.
