Watching the game last night I kept thinking and hoping Harkless works all summer on his three point shot and is a better more consistent shooter next season. We really need that.
yup, Portland could really use a forward (or two) in their rotation who can consistently hit from deep both spot up and creating for himself off the dribble. Harkless's deal isn't bad at all and he's still young enough to hopefully improve. So fingers crossed there, but I'm far from sold on the rest of the options at forward. Vonleh continues to look extremely limited & Aminu's jumper is an embarrassment. Neil hamstrung the roster overpaying for Turner, Crabbe & Leonard & I unfortunately don't see them getting moved for anything more palatable even if packaged with picks.

To my reasoning it seems the best course is probably to use the 3 #1s and swing for the fences. There seems to be plenty of forwards with upside in this draft... I'd really like an upgrade especially at the 4.

STOMP

Nurkic made Crabbe, Vonleh and Turner (etc) look much better because of the inside out play on offense and he single handily shored up the defense. Losing him cost the bench any value they might have had going into the draft/off season.

A big or two would do wonders for this team.

I'm not sure it's quite as bad as we make it out to be. Last night wasn't just depressing it was embarrassing. I hope NO has seen enough and grabs some productive bigs.

TNT announcers last night talked about how most teams are looking for shooters. Crabbe's .444 3pt shooting should be in high demand.
His disappearing act in the series is going to be the last thing rival executives have seen of him too.

I'm not in favor of trading the picks unless it is part of a deal to bring back a veteran who is just as good as our best three. And if that's not possible, then keep them all.

I know for a fact there is a trade partner for the hype. At least there was before the back issue

Not yet; we need to weather the Golden Showers storm. Let them run their team out of their window. We are young. We can wait.

Our window opens in 2018-2019, not a moment before. But if we build the team right, the window can stay open until 2026-2027.

A team with Dame-Nurk-CJ healthy for at least 70 games wins you around 45 a year. And that's still a middle-bottom of the pack team in the west. We really need to hit on at least one of these picks-- as in borderline all star caliber player in 2-3 yrs. We don't have any assets/tools to get better aside from our draft picks.

Outside of that, even if we wanted to go all in and get vets, this team's ceiling is 48 wins and maybe a second round appearance. NO destroyed our flexibility with some of these contracts.

Our record with those three was considerably better than 45 win pace.

14-6 is a 57 win pace, FWIW.

Yes, and our lineup with Moe starting last year was 10-4, a 59 win pace. Let's not get carried away with a cupcake schedule and hot streak. That's clearly what Neil did when he said we projected to be a 50 win team this year.

Nurk's effect on the team's record isn't due to cupcake schedule or hot streak. 20 games is 25% of the season, roughly. Nurk filled a really big hole in the lineup - a C who can defend and score and block shots as well as pass. He gave us a real inside/outside ability.

Moe does help with his defense and adequate scoring, but I don't think he affects the team's record that significantly.

Mo is fantastic as a 4th/5th guy or energy guy off the bench. A lot of teams would love to have him on their roster. But you definitely can't build around him. He works great off of Nurk cutting and slashing.

You are overvaluing our draft picks and also not acknowledging that no one wants any of our scrubs on their roster. Who the f would want Leonard, Harkless, Turner, or Crabbe? Especially with those contracts.

You really think we are close to a 60 win team with Nurk playing all year? Because that's what you're arguing.

Spurs in the playoffs are pretty tough.
But not impossible. I agree they are a machine designed to wake up for the playoffs, but I think we take that series to seven with a healthy Nurk.

I would say 50-55 as is.

And BC is correct on her question. With our big three healthy all season who else in the west could take us in a best of seven? SA? Utah? Doubt it.

I think you leave this roster AS IS with everybody staying healthy, this is a 50 win team. You package these pics with a couple of our high priced vets and you have a 55 win squad.

No Duncan. I think the days of them rolling the league are over. Parker and Manu are both ancient, and frankly I think LMA is a joke. Kawhi is the only player on that team that I fear.
I honestly think they will come out of the West. Don't know why. I just feel the supporting cast will give the Dubs a tough time.
