Walker > Brown

Walker — Watford —- this one is really close.

His feel/awareness really stands out.

His outside shot is going to be his calling card.

I wonder if even the Blazers thought he would be this good. We could have picked him at 46 if we thought that highly of him. Picking him at 57 seems like kind of a why not kind of move, since they had the pick anyways.

It was a Schmitz pick, he was pretty high on him.

He reminds me of Harkless in some ways. I'm thinking that might be his floor. He seems very comfortable, very poised, good instincts, doesn't try to do too much and paradoxically has a pretty good all-around game.

He's something the Blazers need in a guy with size and length who isn't a huge liability switching on screens. He'll play D. He'll hit the boards. He can cut and he's a guy opposing defenses can't leave alone at the 3 line to double-team our more prolific scorers. But the Blazers' lack of size really opens the door for him to see solid run every night; the opportunity to play is there for him if he just keeps doing what he's done these first two summer games.

The #4 pick in the best NBA draft ever? The guy who went right before Barkley and then played 17 sesaons in the NBA?

At least we're keeping expectations reasonable...

It’s not like Perkins was an all star. He was a solid player. Not really an unreasonable comparison.

well, he did averaged only 12 points per game over those 17 years...

Perkins averaged like 12 and 6 for his career. He was basically a journeyman. But I agree that it’s way too early to say Walker will even have a role in the NBA let alone a 17 year niche.

I’m having flashbacks to how this group reacted to Armon Johnson several years back. When you’re a small market lone team like Portland is we tend to think every decent prospect is the next great hope.

He already has a better career ahead of him than Greg Oden, the dude drafted #1, ahead of Kevin Durant. Let’s not be stupid with hyperbole.

Or let’s…

It’s arguable that 2003 is the second best draft and Milicic went 2nd!!!

You obviously don't know much about delusional Knicks fans.

It's kind of painful how slowly we start until they put Jabari in. It's also painful how obvious it is that Greg's the problem - he played less than 11 minutes. I love the kid (you have to have guys like him in a locker room - his enthusiasm is just infectious) but he STILL doesn't know how to play basketball.

Yes, but the flaw in your case is that everybody knows that Perkins SHOULDN'T'VE gone that high. He was a huge disappointment until he got to LA and suddenly started shooting threes.
