It’s not a talking point, it’s a real thing that happened. The fact you brush it off as simply a talking point is beyond denial.

...I'm fairly certain this false equivalency here has been pointed out to you numerous times before. It really is an astonishing comparison to continually use. Talk about brushing something off. :dunno:

Could you imagine Trump working his teflon luck and escaping all this? The country is a shit show, but then, it would be a cluster f**k civil war.

It’s quite a stretch to compare a riot to a riot and call it a “false equivalency”.
I understand you’ve probably adopted the hyperbolic premise that our democracy, our government, and life as we know it almost ended that day at the hands of a bunch of dipshits without a plan, but I don’t accept that scenario as being truthful, or even remotely possible when you apply simple logistics to it. It was a riot. People fucked up federal property, then got bored and left, and later charged for their crimes. Similar things happened the summer before, minus people being charged with crimes. One of them even got shot by a cop. They are comparable events when you strip away the overly sensational bias.

It was also funny to see a bunch of communist supporting, fuck the system liberals who justified rioting become flag wavin’ red blooded apple pie bald eagle ‘mericans as soon as it was a bunch of conservative morons who were doing the rioting. The sanctity of our government establishments suddenly took on a new importance. This was after multiple government buildings and statues were defaced in the weeks and months prior, of course. The irony in politics has no bounds.

Might want to read before you spout.

Estimates of arrests for the BLM events range from 14,000 to 17,000 people. And last I checked, no one actively tried to cancel democracy through judicial, executive, legislative, military means, nor from grassroots efforts.

This is a bs comparison that is frankly lazy and racist.

The reason for the Jan 6th riot was a complete lie intentionally put out by the president.

I know Obama secretly paid black people to riot too the summer before. (Thanks Obama!)

The point is we can't have ex-presidents and soon-to-be ex-presidents supporting and profiting off of rioting.

To make it even worse there are enough politicians and people running for office based on the lies put out there by Obama and Trump that fair and free elections are now in serious jeopardy.

Oh god, racist, here we go.

Tell me you don’t have an argument without telling me you don’t have an argument.

This dialogue is over.

black people protest...you say communist supporters
white rednecks protest....just some morons.... yeah...racist (strangely no cute political affiliation seems necessary for them) although fascist, supremacist...traitor all come to mind...and they never looked twice at confederate statues until it meant something political to them to defend either....sheesh

I literally said zero, nothing whatsoever about black people, that was you filling in the blanks. It wasn’t just black people rioting that summer man.

Oops, you’re racist.

I say “people rioted in the summer”.

Multiple people jump in insisting, hinting, and flat out attributing the riots to black people.

Same people call me racist.

Amazing.

This seems like a stretch from the actual replies you received.

the vast majority of BLM protests were held by minorities and so called liberals...those were the George Floyd riots...tell me you didn't call them all liberal commie supporters and the Proud Boys ..morons....sure...parse it how you like....just like calling war vets commie supporters or civil rights leaders....you brought that bs into the conversation...I deleted a much more brutal response but BLM wasn't trying to lynch a Vice President or the Speaker of the House yet you think there's a comparison to be made between the civil rights protestors and the insurrection at Capitol Hill...you don't get to water that down and call fair play.

Sly, did you get into Sly Poker Cat's catnip? You know Obama paid BLM protesters? In what universe?

Oops, was I not supposed to say anything? I always forget what I hear from the news and the secret Obama Zoom meetings.

So no response to the 14,000 to 17,000 that were arrested, even though you were completely wrong in your garbage post earlier.

I see how you argue. And yet you expect me to argue in good faith with you. Maybe we should just put eachother on ignore and be done with it. I have zero time for childishness.

I made a mistake. I totally shouldn't have said the Obama thing.

You're calling it rioting when it was actually protesting.

Nobody supported rioting.

People were arrested, you are right about that and I was wrong (although I didn’t actually think ZERO people were arrested out of the thousands). What were they charged with? Were they charged with anything? Trespassing, vandalism and property destruction maybe? Are they domestic terrorists? What should maga losers be charged with? I’m legit just wondering where the lines are drawn.

Dude stop. I’m calling rioting rioting. I know the difference. So do you. I don’t care if people protest, more power to em.

BTW, the catalyst for the protests was the murder of George Floyd by a police officer.

The George Floyd protests were a series of protests and civil unrest against police brutality and racism that began in Minneapolis on May 26, 2020, and largely took place during 2020.[7][8] The civil unrest and protests began as part of international reactions to the murder of George Floyd, a 46-year-old African American man who was murdered during an arrest after Derek Chauvin, a Minneapolis Police Department officer, knelt on Floyd's neck for 9 minutes and 29 seconds[9] as three other officers looked on and prevented passers-by from intervening.[16] Chauvin and the other three officers involved were later arrested.[17] In April 2021, Chauvin was found guilty of second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter.[18] Chauvin was sentenced to 22.5 years in prison with possibility of supervised release after 15 years for second-degree murder in June 2021.[19]

The George Floyd protest movement began hours after his murder as bystander video and word of mouth began to spread.[20] Protests first emerged at the East 38th and Chicago Avenue street intersection in Minneapolis, the location of Floyd's arrest and murder, and other locations in the Minneapolis–Saint Paul metropolitan area of Minnesota.[21] Protests quickly spread nationwide and to over 2,000 cities and towns in over 60 countries in support of the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement.[22][23][24] Polls in summer 2020 estimated that between 15 million and 26 million people had participated at some point in the demonstrations in the United States, making the protests the largest in U.S. history.[25][26][27]

While the majority of protests were peaceful,[28] demonstrations in some cities escalated into riots, looting,[29] and street skirmishes with police and counter-protesters.

Now it's pretty clear to I think the vast majority of people why these protests/riots/civil disobedience took place. But if you think we need a congressional hearing about this I really don't have a problem with it. If you were to watch the Jan 6th hearings you see that the focus has not been on the poor protesting people but on the misinformation they were fed that led them to protest/riot. In the case of George Floyd, I think we know what was the reason behind it.

I know one protester in Portland was going to be charged with murder but he was killed by the police during his arrest.

I also know of at least one protester in Portland being charged with arson.

But here is a good summary of the violence and laws broken during the George Floyd protests:

Only 3.7 percent of the protests involved property damage or vandalism. Some portion of these involved neither police nor protesters, but people engaging in vandalism or looting alongside the protests.

In short, our data suggest that 96.3 percent of events involved no property damage or police injuries, and in 97.7 percent of events, no injuries were reported among participants, bystanders or police.

These figures should correct the narrative that the protests were overtaken by rioting and vandalism or violence. Such claims are false. Incidents in which there was protester violence or property destruction should be regarded as exceptional — and not representative of the uprising as a whole.

I said nothing about George Floyd, black people, BLM or civil rights leaders. Address what I actually say or don’t bother responding to me. I’m talking about people RIOTING, not protesting, who align with Democrats and are defended by Democrats. They aren’t all black people. That was YOUR assertion that you sneakily tried to pin on me. It’s complete nonsense you made up and now you are going to great lengths to somehow string it back to me.

If they weren't protesting/rioting about the George Floyd murder and police brutality what do you believe they were protesting and rioting about?

If they weren't protesting/rioting about the George Floyd murder and police brutality what do you believe they were protesting and rioting about?

I think the protests* were about that absolutely.

But I think much of the rioting and looting was flat out shameless opportunism and shouldn’t be attributed to a dead man with no voice in the matter.

The most egregious part of this to me is:

The same people who invented "Blue Lives Matter" just to distract from black lives actually mattering, are the same ones who beat police with flag poles and are currently sending death threats to Idaho police for arresting their friends.

So. Without cop lives actually mattering to these people, what are they left with? What is the actual reasoning? It is racism.
