Jason Quick Q&A

So I guess Curry DOES have a player option after all.

Don't usually read much of Quicks's work. I did listen to him talk with Isaac & Zuke a couple of days ago. And not much was different from what he says here. But I agree that we need to make it out of this first round for this core to still be viable. And from other reading other Blazer fans' reactions, that seems to be the general attitude. I still think we can do that unless we fall to like the lowest seed.

Quick has become extremely good since he works for the Athletic, i'm looking forward to read his answers

Quick has very seldom added anything that isn't already obvious and better discussions and info have been found in forums.

I think this is because now he has a bunch of national writers to bounce things off, get info from. Much bigger network at the athletic

I enjoyed the chat, but how about some actual factual news?

When is Little's presser?
When do SL players start practicing?
Who's on the team?

Sorry, just can’t read anything the guy types.
Scalma, I appreciate the time you spent on doing this for the forum. Especially since I understand that there are other posters here that don't think like I do. However, I'm totally in agreement with HCP. Fuck Jason Quack and John Crapzano. They have shown no remorse at all, for all of the shit slinging they have done towards the team; just to further their careers with negative publicity. I have ZERO respect for either of these guys. They both need to go find an East coast team to "support"....

That’s cool, but the title is pretty self explanatory. No ones forcing you to open the thread.

Sure, I understand that. I could have, and did, skip it for awhile. There shouldn't be anything wrong with me voicing my opinion of Jason Quack, in a thread about him though. Right?

Edit: And I did compliment you on what you did, regardless if I agree with it or not. I may not agree with everything you post, but you do post good, productive things for the forum. I enjoy the stuff. Not that my opinion means shit. Just saying....

Nothing really stood except one thing. His sense is that the blazers are looking to turn the page on Aminu as a starter and that his representation is looking for more than Portland is willing to pay, but that the market will ultimately determine his worth. Said Portland would take him back at a specific figure (he guessed $8-10m) as a bench player. As for who starts at PF? He said that’s the biggest question mark going into the offseason but he felt that Zach might be the guy.

Love Zach, but goddammit roll the dice and give me Aldridge or Griffin already.

I don't necessarily want Love, but I sure as hell would tune in if we got him.

I actually think it’d make more sense to get an actual power forward and let Zach play center until Nurk came back. Can sign a cheap big to back him up (Kyle O’Quinn) and Meyers can provide depth as well. Use Turners expiring to land a PF. I wonder if the Clippers would trade Gallinari for Turner. It would save them roughly $4M, money they’ll need as they look to be a player in free agency.

he thinks the Blazers would pay Aminu 8-10M to be a bench player?

Portland is very likely going to be paying tax anyway, But Aminu at 10M/year could be 30M, or more, in salary and tax. That doesn't make much sense at all. And it would just about wipe out any opportunity for cap-space in 2020, if that matters

The Aminu/Harkless combo at forward have been the starters for 4 long years. And for 4 long years it's been painfully obvious the Blazers needed a significant upgrade at one of those positions. Zach may or may not be that upgrade, but for damn sure a 5th year of Aminu/Harkless would just be poor management

Aminu to me is this years Ed Davis. Contributed in the regular season but exposed in the playoffs and will ultimately be let go. I know he’s had good playoff performances in years past, but you can’t rely on someone teams dare to shoot. Harkless same thing. Wouldn’t be surprised if both were somewhere else next year.
