Just Another Stupid Trade Idea - Oladipo Edition

Frye + Beasley + Oladipo + Gortat
(6.4+6.0+3.4?+7.7 = 23.5)
for
Matthews + Freeland + 2 2nd rounders + Cap Space
(6.9+3.0 = 9.9)

They'd have a Hell of a Lot of cap space next year, much more than 1 max contract. They'd also get a fantastic draft pick in a MUCH better draft (because they'd suck)

Starters: Lillard, Oladipo, Batum, Aldridge, Gortat

Salaries taken from hoopshype

I suggested this trade in a thread, but I decided to make it its own thread.

That's a pretty awful deal for Phoenix. Real bad. Not only do you want them to suck next year, but giving them no young player to do it with.
And Gortat is an expiring, so you are basically, by taking on their two bad deals and replacing them with Wes and Freeland, only saving them about 3 million on their cap next season. 6 by stealing their pick. So basically they dump the 5th pick for 3 million. Terrible

Man where's your idea, man! Why you gotta just shit all over this idea, man? At least it's an idea, man!

Must give them a better incentive. They certainly have to be getting back either Leonard or the #10 and additional assets such as Papanikalou. I would do it anyways because it would cement our starting lineup with Oladipo and Gortat. Would try desperately to move Beasely however.

If they don't make the trade, they have $36.5+3.4 on their cap after next season (letting go Gortat)
If they make the trade, they have $36.5 - 6.8 - 6.2 + 7.2 + 3.1

So, their savings (by these calculations) would be 39.9-33.8 = $6.1 Mil.
which will be big next year.

However, as suggested above, we'd probably have to include some combination of #10, Leonard, Papa.

+Leonard
-Freeland
and it would save them $6 mil and give them Matthews and a prospect in Leonard.

still sucks bad for them.

I don't think there is anyway Oladipo lasts until pick #5. So, this trade isn't possible.

This sounds right, unfortunately.

Taking a look at the Suns roster makes me very happy to be a Blazers fan.
