Well, that's a missed opportunity. He could have traded us CP3, and then taken the job here. Now it's too late.

Not good news, if this guy is at all credible

@DarnellMayberry Bower's recently willingness to trade Chris Paul created tensions between him and ownership, sources say.

Must have been fired for even taking the phone call from Pritchard on the CP3 deal

I thought that Bower had been openly seeking other opportunities on other teams. I seem to remember that he interviewed for one of the other GM openings, maybe it was NJ. Can't remember. Weird shiznit man.

Going out on a limb here... Could he have been fired for NOT trading CP or at least NOT finding a fair value trade ;)

It was indeed the Nets. If he shows up there, that explains this "mutual parting of the ways."

It is interesting, because if you look at the finds he has had out of the draft since he has been there, and he has done a pretty good job overall. I wonder if this isn't a firing that actually came from...below, not above.

Just looked up shinn on wiki

The New Orleans Hornets owner has a current estimated net worth of $100,000,000

damn, he is poor... lol, in terms of owners

does Monty have the juice to get KP hired? Does he want to?

@ WojYahooNBA There had been increased tension between Shinn family and Bower, but no one saw this coming now. Shinn father and son duo NBA's worst combo.

Shinn still making the moves?

Good shit right here

@ticktock6 Don't believe any bullshit about "Shinn was upset over Bower's openness to trading Paul" ... Shinn & fam run everything.

@ticktock6 If Bower did any such thing, I have no doubt it was b/c he was told to.

@ticktock6 Have long suspected Shinn is the one responsible for all the sneaky little leaks to the press & jabs at other ppl

@ticktock6 I wouldn't put it past Shinn to replace Bower with his son who has a high school education AND IS TEAM VP....

i don't want to trade batum for 1 year of chris paul (2011 lockout, signs with knicks in 2012)

If anything it could be the opposite. Perhaps Shinn is willing to move Paul, but Bower just didn't want to be the one to do it? Hmmm

Probably reading to much into it, but it doesn't seem as if that guy who reported about the firing because of Bower willing to trade Paul is becoming exactly true.

Jesus Christ, get over Batum people. Chris Paul even if it were for 1 year > Batum. And even then, that is not a given at this point that he goes to New York.

uh huh

My guess is to why he was fired? I thought about it. I figure it's because he wouldn't trade CP3 to the New York Knicks for salary cap relief. That is how we will truly know, if the NBA is fixed over the next few months!:ohno:

You and I had the same reaction. He did interview for the Nets job, so I figured he was gone at that point.

Slightly new idea on how to get CP3. 3 or more separate deals that each include 3mil in cash.
example
Part one.
Blazers send Camby, Rudy 3mil cash. NO sends CP3. (NO sends out 2 mil more than received + 3mil cash = savings 5 mil immediate)
Part two
Blazers send Miller, Bayless 3mil cash. NO sends Okafor ( NO sends out 2 mil more than received + 3mil cash = savings 5 mil immediate)
Trade three
Blazers send Przybilla and Batum, 3mil cash. NO sends Posey, Write. (NO sends out 700k more + 3mil = savings of 3.7mil immediate) Also, Przybilla is covered at 80% by insurance so more savings will come from here, perhaps several mil.

Their broke owner immediately saves 13.7 million and likely more with Przybilla. Plus, they actually get semi-fair value back for CP3.

brings up a couple of rabbit-trail hypotheticals...

Do you think KP would insist that CP3 would be there before he'd take a job?
Would Shinn be dumb enough to trade CP3 before hiring a GM?
Would KP hold out from a job b/c CP3 wasn't there?
