Law doesn't matter when discretion with agents and trust of GMs keeping their word are needed to get moves done.I would bet that the contract has been submitted to the office, so it's all signed and official.
Assuming that's the case, you can't back out. It has the force of law, in addition to the force of NBA rules, etc.
Was it John Nash that gave Miles and Theo Ratliff the massive contracts? In retrospect, it actually isn't that bad, compared to the crap we've seen yesterday and today. I think it could be a tradable deal at some point.
Since no one answered. No, the max years for a S&T is 4. So he could have the same pay scale over a four year deal but it wouldn't be this deal just shipped elsewhere. You might know more about this than I. Can we sign and trade that deal?
At this point if we don’t trade with Brooklyn I would see if we could do Grant for Simmons and a couple picks before the trade deadline.
I wonder if Portland can front-load the contract. Pay him $38m this season and have it decline every season afterGrant is still the least expensive 5-year deal this summer.

If we can work it under our cap, that's a brilliant idea.I wonder if Portland can front-load the contract. Pay him $38m this season and have it decline every season after
Good idea. Depends how much salary we save on a Dame trade and if we sign Thybulle or an MLE player. If we don't have much under the tax then it probably doesn't matter.I wonder if Portland can front-load the contract. Pay him $38m this season and have it decline every season after

I’d love that trade. Allen would still have two years left after this season.Depending on what happens with the Dame trade, I could see Grant going out for Jarrett Allen at the deadline.
Grant/Nas for Allen/filler.
I'd do Grant/filler for Allen/filler pick.

Scoot, Sharpe, Allen. Not to say Allen is a foundational piece, but he’s good enough that it gives us an opportunity to focus in on wings for the next two drafts.
If Nets gave us more picks to keep Claxton, I’ll take the picks. If we get Claxton, I'm not sure if I'd do it. But if we can't get Claxton, I could see us moving Grant for Allen.
Hollinger and Duncan podcast had an interesting discussion on Grants contract.
Duncan likes the contract irrespective of Dame. His point was that at the deadline a team like the Mavs would offer Holmes HardawayJR and a first round pick for Grant. Hollinger agreed with that point.
Duncan thought the Warriors for CP3 and a pick or Heat (if they don't have Dame) would consider Duncan Robinson and a pick trades as well.
Good argument that even without Dame maybe there is a bit of value in keeping Grant on this deal.
If I'm Cronin I hold firm on it being a declining deal and I don't allow a trade kicker. Unless those were specifically agreed to on June 30th. I'd prefer a non guarantees year 5 or team option but I'd assume those were discussed on Friday so can't be changed. If they weren't addressed then hold firm on those as well.
Joe will not want to be there lolWill there be a PC announcing this?
