That would be one of the best offers they could get. Let's do it like Raptors did. PLEASE.At this point we would be a fool to offer CJ in any trade for Butler if we are in the mix as Butler's trade value is now so low.

I agree. It’s not like Portland could get him for less. It’s obvious they’re not going to just take any offer.

Am I the only one who doesn't want him now but wanted him before?I agree.
It'd be better to 'overpay' and get Butler for only 75% of his value instead of trying to completely low-ball them and not get Butler in the first place.
The thing with Jimmy, is that he wants a team to $how him a $ot of $ove. As long at his new team is willing to give him a 5th year on his contract, there's no way he goes to LA or NY teams. In the mean time, teams like the Lakers, Clippers and Nets are sitting back and waiting, knowing they will have enough cap space next summer to sign him outright, without giving up any valuable assets.
Butler for Turner straight up, you say no?Am I the only one who doesn't want him now but wanted him before?
Isnt december 15th like a month and a half away? Sorry Not trying to be ‘that’ guy, just confused by this statement. It's already dragged out far too long. Thibs fucked up. The very first time Jimmy came to him and demanded a trade, he should have quietly started working the phones BEFORE it all blew up and went public. He stubbornly believed he could smooth things over with Butler, even after the SECOND trade demand went public.
December 15th is when newly signed free agents can be traded, but that's still 6 months away. Do they really want this distraction to drag out that much longer. At some point, they are throwing their season away.

I really wonder what kind of offers they are getting. The MIA deal sucked, and HOU refused to give up Eric Gordon. One would think they are getting better offers that we are hearing about, but if they are, why haven't they pulled the trigger? His trade value isn't going up. Perhaps they are waiting on a team like the Rockets to get desperate enough to up their offer.

Obviously not. But I'm not throwing any positive assets into a Jimmy deal. Maybe a heavily protected 1st rounder is about it.Butler for Turner straight up, you say no?

I think actually think thibs plan is to play the season with Butler. I think Thibs doesnt really care he either gets fired and gets a big pay day or he gets to stay and collect checks and its clear he’s in control not Taylor.
That's the problem. It doesn't seem like there are a lot of takers for the privilege of paying Jimmy $47 million a year (or whatever it works out to) at the age of 34. In addition to his current hold out, he has the Thibs' pedigree, which means he's been played into the ground like Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah and Luol Deng. Guys who started for Thibs don't exactly have a good track record of holding up well past their late 20s.

Yes, December 15th is a month and a half away. At that time, there will be more possible trade options. I'm not sure what confused you about that.
What confused him was the following text from your previous message (#1807):
"December 15th is when newly signed free agents can be traded, but that's still 6 months away"
A typo. I suspect you wanted to write 6 weeks.
Oops. I need a better editor for my posts!
Is MIN fine with it? No. Does Glen Taylor want to whip out the check book and fire Thibs also no. Does Thibs seem to be doing whatever he wants? Yup. Thibs and Butler even planned a lets come try to humiliate our two young guys, and air it with Nichols on espn, and Taylors done nothing but try to talk big a few times.Yes, December 15th is a month and a half away. You really think MIN is perfectly fine letting Jimmy be a distraction, whether he plays or not? What possible reason is there for MIN to keep Butler all season? They weren't exactly winning with him and now he's taken his ball and gone home (but still expects to be paid). Do they really want to throw an entire season away, only to lose him for nothing next summer? Even if those four HOU first round picks all end up being in the late 20s, they are better than letting him walk next summer and getting nothing in return.
Technically, Thibs isn't the GM, Scott Layden is. Thibs may be willing to get fired, I wonder if Layden is willing to take a bullet for him. At some point, Glen Taylor will get pissed and circumvent Thibs. He already threatened to do so once. I can't imagine he's happy with how this is paying out.

yea, I think so. He's worth it as a player and all 30 teams know it!
Just a matter of fit for two teams.
Nope. I see it as a lose/lose situation - that contract he's going to demand is not something I want to be part of.Am I the only one who doesn't want him now but wanted him before?
Yes, it's the kind of move we will need to make in order to improve. But THIS is not THE move to make.... it’s the kind of move this team needs to make if they hope to win a championship ...

they are just low ballin..and you know it!If all 30 teams know it, why won't Houston give up Gordon?

Sigh... That's the point. Everyone is low balling.
His value is getting lower by the day.
