Joakim Noah?

Is he on the outs in Chicago? If he was, would anyone be in favor of picking him up?

I can imagine that the answer from the majority will be an emphatic no - Noah is one of those players who divides people into "hate him" and "despise him", but I actually think two things that need defending:

(a) he could be useful: he's skinny, but he's a decent rebounder and shotblocker, and he was a great lockerroom guy in college. Lots of people like to compare him with Varejao, and while he's not as wide as Sideshow Andy, he's similarly pesky to the other team. (I know, it's mainly because of the hair, but there are more similarities.) And Frye's not getting it done on defense against PFs.

(b) he wouldn't be a poison: he's been in trouble in Chicago, most notoriously when his own team voted to extend his suspension (!), but I have a feeling that the losing wears on him worse than most given his college experience, and he'd really relish coming to a winner.

At the moment the defense seems to suffer a lot when LaMarcus is out, and I think Noah can do a lot of the same things (he's got nimble feet for a near seven-footer and can pressure on the permimeter) as well as rebound maybe better.

I like how the first reason that "he could be useful" is that he's skinny! I think that tells you all you need to know right there.

Noah is a scrub! He'll be out of the league in 2 years!

oops....didn't see the "but" after the skinny part. Thank god thats not a reason why we should get him!

I think he could turn out to be a decent role player, but I don't see him having a place on this team.

I'm trying to think of a player I'd be less interested in ... Stephon Marbury maybe, but it's probably more like a dead heat.

I would much rather watch Stephon play, I don't want him on the team but it would at least be entertaining. And he has talent too.

Starbury at least fills a position of need.

Black-hole "lead" guard or locker room cancer?

Noah was considered to be the consummate teammate at Florida.

The Chicago Bulls are one of the most dysfunctional clubhouses in all the NBA.

Logic would lead me to believe that he really isn't the problem there.

Well, I was kidding, since Marbury is pretty crap nowadays. In his prime, I wouldn't agree at all that he was a black hole. Cancer is more questionable to me, but I think that's more of a recent thing.

I exaggerated a little, but he did always strike me as a player that looked to "get his" before worrying about anything else like winning. As for the cancer thing, I only go off of how his Knicks "teammates" seem to be reacting to him lately, and he's got some weird kind of vibe that I can't quite put my finger on ... I almost want to say "over the hill Mike Tyson," but that's probably just because he put the starbury logo on the side of his head.

Noah's been very productive in the minutes given. He would be an awesome backup for us. People are REALLY selling him short if they don't think he's going to be something in this league. If we could acquire him for Frye/Diogu/2nd round pick I'd do it in a heartbeat.

I would be very excited at the prospect of acquiring Noah for spare parts like Frye and Diogu. When given time, Noah has produced well in rebounds, blocks, and even assists. I think he would be a great energy guy to have off the bench and not have to worry about him taking shots away from our second unit.

IMO, Frye > Noah.

I remember when Canzano was annointing him #1 pick after his Sophomore year. I emailed him to make sure he knew he was wrong.

IMO, Frye > Noah.

I think it's even between those two. Frye keeps jacking up ill-advised long jumpers, whereas Noah only takes shots at the rim (usually putbacks). Both are mediocre defenders that foul their men unnecessarily.

It's a wash between both of them in my book, so a trade doesn't make sense. Ike on the other hand I'd trade for Noah. Seems like a good guy, he's just too short to play effective minutes at the PF spot.

The organization is dysfunctional, I have to agree with this post.

Once you get the Chicago out of him, he's probably going to be another Tyson Chandler type; better at some things and worse at others.

He moves quite well for a guy his size, and is a decent ballhandler/passer. He blocks a LOT of shots for the minutes he plays, and he could be a pretty solid double-double guy if given the minutes. His shot is the ugliest I've seen in the NBA in my life. He's not going to make many shots outside of putbacks and other shots near the rim if he gets position and a good pass. He's almost useless on the pick and roll since he can't consistently hit from 15-20 ft.

I wouldn't read anything into attitude issues with him until he gets to some other team.

I don't think Paxson is looking to get fleeced again in yet another trade of his big men draft picks.

Designated Scapegoat.
you're right! Portland could pick up Stephon just to give that special section of Blazer fans what they truly want. Then they wouldn't have to spend every day trying to demonize the rest of the guys.

Brilliant!

It was obvious Noah was going to suck from the summer.

Nate Robinson also appeared with Noah on this segment. Ron Artest was supposed to appear on the segment, but he ended up skipping it, even though he was in the studios, because according to Robinson, he was at the candy machine. The trio of Robinson, Noah, and Artest was also due to do a chat on ESPN.com, but none of them showed up for the chat.

Bulls fans will probably come away from this interview thinking that Joakim Noah just doesn’t get it and that he has not learned from his mistakes at all, or even considers them mistakes. It is also alarming that Noah is hanging out with a looney in Ron Artest. If he continues to hang out with questionable people he will be continue to be involved in questionable behavior. The Bulls are already unhappy with Noah showing up to Summer League out of shape.

If Noah’s no show for the ESPN.com chat is any indication, Noah will likely continue his routine of being a no show at Bulls practices.

Tech mentions that the Kings want Joakim Noah in place of Cedric Simmons. I would personally not be shocked to see the Bulls let go of Noah, as he was a major strain on team chemistry last year, missing practices, fighting with coaches, and constantly being fined by the team. The veterans on the team did not appreciate a loud mouth rookie who didn’t put in the work. Noah followed the eventful season by being arrested for marijuana posession and showing up for summer league grossly out of shape. On Friday, Noah appeared on ESPN’s First Take and said he’s looking forward to winning, but does anyone believe him? He spent the majority of of his time on that ESPN segment not taking responsibilty for his mistakes and just displaying himself as a guy that doesn’t get it and who will probably never get it. Noah followed up his apperance on First Take by being a no show for a planned chat with ESPN.com, just as he was a no show for multiple Bulls practices last season.

Joakim Noah - Hasn’t really worked out hard. Thonus says it seems pretty normal for guys to do this after their rookie season, like Tyrus last summer. Doesn’t sound to be up to a whole lot and seems distracted. He just hasn’t been working out as hard as everyone would like him to have been.
