Her lack of basketball knowledge could end up helping her as an owner.

Paul, like most owners, wanted to have some input from time to time. Jody seems happy to root for the team while Neil/Stotts/Dame run the show.

Meh she’s probably going to ride this Dame/CJ era out. 4-5 more years of it basically. In which Dame Cj era starts winding down. On top of that the Moda center lease ends around that time. The team will have of course jumped even more in value. That’s what NBA teams do with their crazy growth. That’s when we’ll see what happens. I don’t think she can stomach and have the passion enough to rebuild.

Thats when we should see what happens

Why do people assume no basketball knowledge and lack of real commitment?

Do you really mean lack of Y chromosome?

It was always said before Paul's death that Jody didn't like sports and didn't want anything to do with the Blazers. So far Olshey has flat out said that she doesn't interfere with basketball decisions the way Paul did.

So no, the fact that she's a woman isn't the reason.

Now you're just mansplaining. Chauvinist.

“She’s super involved,” McGowan said. “Obviously, very involved on all major decisions.

Jody is very involved in decision making. She isn't just sitting back and letting the boys do whatever. Maybe she doesn't interfere as much, but she is very involved. I think the longer she is the owner, the more she will be involved.

Paul wasn't super involved at first. He became a fan and engrained himself in the team.

I never said she wasn't involved. Notice how McGowan's quote included the word "major". Jody can be involved without interfering the way Paul did with the draft and free agency. That doesn't mean she can't or won't do so in the future as she integrates herself into the organization.

Both Olshey and McGowan have said she doesn't interfere the way Paul did. There is no argument to this.

Yeah it’s because she’s a woman, and women don’t know anything about sports.

Or it’s because it’s been talked about *repeatedly* about how she cares much, much more about the Seahawks and “never really cared for” the Blazers.

Clearly she is Mark Cuban 2.0, didn’t you know?

Wouldn't

What do you believe personally? Do you agree with this statement "Her lack of basketball knowledge could end up helping her as an owner." ?

My point is that her lack of knowledge and ownership style isn't because she's a woman. There are plenty of basketball knowledgeable women.

I think you can make a case in all sports for either side of the meddling owner argument. The Mavs won a title with a meddlesome owner. I don't think I even know who owns the Raptors though and it seems like they gave Ujiri control without interfering much.

There's plenty of examples of either side working out. All I know is Olshey seems to have more freedom to make his own decisions now. We'll see if that's a good or bad thing but he has Jody's full support.
