one potential upside is this debacle may give Dame an out so he can go to a better organization that is committed to winning. Then Portland can blow it up,.
I've often thought the Blazers strategically would be better long term rebuilding than trying to win with Dame.
But as worthless as this ownership and front office has been I highly doubt they could succeed by "blowing it up" so it might be irrelevant to contending if the Blazers trade Dame or not.
So you feel right now the Lakers and Clippers organizations are in worse shape than the Blazers at this point? With all the resources and advantages the Clippers have over the Trail Blazers, they are 2.5 games ahead in the standings.
The Clippers didn't make the playoffs last season.
That to me is crappily run team.
Then there's the Lakers.
Didn't even make the play-in last season.
Behind! the Trail Blazers in the standings.
Inexcusable.
Who is running that Train Wreck.
Unfortunately the TV deal might be the key.Barring something drastic -- and rest assured this GP2 thing won't be it, because GS needs that savings -- Jody's not doing a thing with this organization (sales-wise) until the new TV deal is locked in. I hate her as much as the next guy/gal, and agree that she's running this thing into the ground, but no amount of fan anger is going to overcome the added value to this franchise that the TV deal will provide.
In the meantime, the best week can do as a fanbase is to make as many scenes as possible to get the message spread as widely as possible. Picket out front of games, wear paper bags on your head, start "sell the team" chants at games, root for the other team, make a scene, boycott going to games and spending money on the team, cancel your season tickets, tell your ticket salespeople that you won't return until there's new ownership. None of that will change her timeline before the TV deal, but may be enough to get her to sell as soon as that's locked in.
I think that's the best we can hope for...
That actually fits. This is like selling your car to a car dealership and then bitching about dings and scratches that YOU put on the damn thing when you buy it back from them.
At this point, I’m actually hoping he does ask out behind the scenes and we deal him similar to how the KD to PHX situation was.one potential upside is this debacle may give Dame an out so he can go to a better organization that is committed to winning. Then Portland can blow it up,.
This has all been discredited by Payton's agent today...he never had any injections or was forced to play here. That's weak sauce from the Warriors trying to get a discount on the picks we got.Blazers medical staff giving a Payton toradol injections, so management can get him some PT and trade him for big money as a player with no injuries listed.
Blazers management look like crooks. This isn't a used car dealership. These players are human beings.
Starting to look that way? Or maybe there is a reason they don’t want him saying he allowed that to happen? This has all been discredited by Payton's agent today...he never had any injections or was forced to play here. Listen I want the team to be sold too. Especially to Phil Knight. But damn she isn’t that BAD. She’s at every game and from all accounts she lets the basketball ppl do their thing. Ppl are acting as if she’s some malcontent owner whose like the Suns old owner or something
it's so weird that the only Blazer you don't trash, in one form or another, is Jody Allen. Are you in her will?
True, but this must be some bizzaro Super Bowl Sunday because, for once, I agree with Aldo. Jody is a billionaire and she doesn’t NEED to sell the team now. From a financial standpoint, selling now, before the new TV contract inflates team values, would be dumb. And I don’t believe the narrative being spun around here by some that she won’t spend into the luxury tax. Signing Dame’s extension and giving big new contracts to Simons and Nurk last summer, with a new big dollar deal for Grant on the horizon, guarantees the team will be in the tax for several years. Do I think the team could use new ownership blood with a bigger vision for the team? Absolutely. Do I expect to see it anytime soon? Nope.
This has been my thoughts for a while now.if the flow chart was Jody Allen--->Blazer front office, I'd agree. However, it sure seems to be Jody Allen--->Vulcans--->Bert Kolde--->Front Office. That's a different matter

What say you Jody?
Equity firms are all over NBA opportunities.I don't like either of those options.
What say you Jody?
I don't like either of those options.
yeah, I would not trust either of them. Those of you who think Jody only cares about the bottom line or that she might move the team... I will take Jody any day compared to these guys. She is there for every home game.
Yes, Phil would be nice, but the dude is 84, and maybe has another 4-5 years. His son is not interested in sports, so then we are back to the same situation we are in now.....looking for a buyer
Who owns the Nets these days? I remember they used to have some Russian interests, didn't they?I don't think anybody would be comfortable with interests from the Middle East owning the Blazers. I think there are 4 foreign majority owners in the NBA right now. But they are like Chinese-Canadian, Israeli-American, Indian, and Canadian....if I have my facts correct
but if Jody decides to sell, she'll look for the best price and the NBA will supposedly vet the sale (ha!)

Ahhh, I was thinking of Prokhorov, who sold in 2017.
