On Sunday night after the game, I texted Bayno and asked him how Greg and Joel were doing. His answer was "Getting closer...."

That's from the guy who works with Oden every day.

Technically, Oden and Przy are "getting closer" with each passing day regardless of when they come back. I'm not sure how "getting closer" really means anything. Seems like a rather vague and obvious reply.

Not true, on days where they re-injure themselves they are "getting further".

Until there's something concrete I'm going to try to keep from freaking out, but this really concerns me. I would love for the team to give us SOMETHING on Oden. "Hey, he won't be back this year. Deal with it."

I am always amazed how the slightest thing can be taken to stratospheric heights of conjecture around here. I watched the LA broadcast of the Blazers/Lakers game (at least as much as I could stomach) and their broadcasters were commenting on how they watched Greg working out with Bayno before the game and how good he looked. They were speculating that he'd be back shortly. So he misses a 5-5 workout for unknown reasons and suddenly it's doom and gloom. Perhaps he had some swelling. Maybe the practice schedule didn't fit with him being on the court. Who knows? Until there's something definite to report, it seems like sitting back and waiting is all we can do.

But immediately after suffering the injury, they are again "getting closer" with each passing minute.

That's true, but if the reporter whacks them in the knee as he's saying that they are not getting closer, then he's speaking the truth.

Oden has been practicing 1 vs 5.

He's that f'cking pissed off!

Maybe the lockout will be a godsend for this team? A year off to get fully healthy might not be the worst thing in the world.

And it'd be good for this board. Some guys seem like they need a mental health break.

We could chat about gardening!

Well on the bright side of things, Oden can go work as a Condom model when his NBA career is over.

These were my thoughts. Since it wasn't reported WHY Oden missed a 5 on 5, WHY the heck are we jumping to conclusions?

Of course, one possibility is that Oden has had a setback and thus won't be able to play for a very long time. But, with the evidence provided, we have no reason to think that is the best answer.

Good god between the roy and oden speculation.... we are gonna be insane by xmas. Where the hell is the blazer beat writers on oden?

It probably has something to do with all the bullshit that has happened to this team. With what has happened so far, I think the fans are really best to prepare for the worst. Because the worst is what has happened to this franchise every single year since Greg Oden came on board. So why not prepare yourself for the worst? Because in all probability, that is what is going to happen.

With Cho going to LA to get a 2nd opinion on Oden's knee I think that concern is justified. I fail to see how that can be anything but bad news.

Just listening to the audio vault his exact words were he isn't practicing full court or "live". I'm not sure how much of a new development this is.

Cho is going to LA to compare their restaurants to ours. Once he figures out the right restaurant, the Rose Quarter will be re-engineered, Oden will emerge as the 2nd coming of Wilt, Roy will be Kobe'esque and LMA will put the POW on Pau.

That's how I'm looking at it as well.

Yeah, but that's an entirely different problem. Confidence issues are a real killer for a professional athlete. Maybe not as bad as if Oden were a guard shooting threes, but it will definitely affect how he plays the game. If it really is confidence issues, it will take a while for him to get over it.

i dont think its about a new injury or not making progress

i think oden needs to hear his knee is healed

Someone needs to punch him in the dick so he can feel what REAL pain is...

I'm sorry that happened to you. We're here for you if you want to talk about it. :devilwink:

Unfortunately Minstrel, I do not have an 18 inch penis, so I will never truly understand what kind of pain it would feel like if Oden were punched in the dick. I'm just saying maybe we should give him some perspective on pain
