who's being a moral authority here dviss? I didn't bother to read past page 2....you can be extremely defensive if anybody questions your opinion ...I rarely do but whatever...you can be tired of me and call my opinions shit....I didn't disrespect your opinion like that though I did say it showed insensitivity given the circumstance...nor did I allude to you being illiterate which you did posting dictionary definitions...I misread your post...as I've said...it was late and I'd had 10 heart pills throughout the day...my mistake.

When I said I was tired of white people saying that, do you know what I was talking about or did you skim through that too?

Don't make everything about race

And yes, the only people that say that are white and yes I'm tired of it.

And yes, the only people that say that are white and yes I'm tired of it.
actually dviss....Dick Gregory said it...David Chappelle said it..Maya Angelou said it...many of my non white friends over my 64 years have said it....you're stereotyping people and whatever ethnicity anybody around here has in their DNA doesn't have anything to do with the topic...or the fact that we're people who talk to each other a lot....in my view...we should collectively show respect and move forward as a society...but it takes a village to raise a child...personally my children don't project these stereotypes. I won't stand for it...I have empathy for all people who've been mistreated or bullied for whatever reasons..S2 is not that place or at least shouldn't be

and here you told me that you couldn't care less about my opinion of you. If that were true, then there shouldn't have been your response above.

Only that you're not expressing an opinion, you're giving an order. As incorrect one at that.

Dave Chappelle has never before questioned "why does everything have to be about race" nor has he ever told someone not to "make it about race". No, he made a LIVING off of making fun of racism.

I'll also wait patiently for links quoting Maya and Dick wondering why their fellow blacks "made it all about race".

In my 42 years living, no black person has asked me this nor is it part of our vernacular. Only white people have. And they only ask it to deflect the racism currently being described.

And please tell me why it took until 08 for him to change his stance...

Nvm, he was running for president then that's why...

their fellow blacks "made it all about race".
First time I've ever heard a claim that all fellow blacks have the same view about why things have to be about race...I have a really good friend in Taiwan from Ghana...he has a wife there from the Paiwan tribe...we talked about this many times with our friend Skip the guitarist from NY...Oba the sax player from LA who taught literature at the university...all black men, friends of mine ...all interracially married as was I. You need to get out more my friend...not everyone is using race as a dividing issue in their lives

I seldom judge a man on his earlier views. It's his views here and now that I'm really interested in.

an order? lol. I said it as advice which was my opinion. My opinion is don't make everything about race.

You said it like an order. And you were wrong. McCain made it about race when he was vehemently against MLK being a national holiday. He voted against it 4 times!

I've given McCain props for changing his stance but PLEASE show me evidence that he didn't do it for political gain and then he'll deserve those props.

Because in 83', 87', 89', and 94', he voted against it.

He changed his stance but it was to become president. He talks about it here:

And even then it took the SUPERBOWL to make it a holiday. Not Mccain....

Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday And The Super Bowl

The NFL played a big role in getting Arizona to recognized the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday by using the Super Bowl as leverage.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s 88th birthday is today. King did not live long enough to see Bill Bidwill move his St. Louis Cardinals to the Phoenix, Arizona area but in a sense, King had one more civil rights battle to fight posthumously. Arizona “celebrates” Martin Luther King Day as the result of direct intervention by the National Football League in terms of dangling a Super Bowl in front of voters. In 1987, newly elected Arizona Governor Evan Mecham’s first act in his new job was to erase Martin Luther King Day from the Arizona calendar as an official state holiday. That decision set off a boycott of the state with entertainers like Stevie Wonder refusing to perform in any venue in Arizona.

Governor Mecham’s reasoning was simple. The Arizona legislature in 1986 and Governor Bruce Babbitt, in Mecham’s opinion, created the holiday illegally.

The National Football League, in an attempt to help the Phoenix Cardinals owner Bill Bidwill to sell more seats after he misread the Phoenix-area market following the move of his Cardinals from St. Louis to Tempe in 1988, awarded Tempe the January 31, 1993 Super Bowl. But Mecham’s decision created a number of problems for the league, specifically the National Football League Players Association was not too keen on playing the NFL’s showcase game in a state where a governor took away the holiday and the governor’saction was supported by Senator John McCain.

In 1989, the Arizona state legislature approved a law making Martin Luther King Day a state holiday but voters needed to approve the measure. In 1990, Arizonans went to the polls and rejected the making Martin Luther King Day a state holiday. Shortly after the voters said no, the NFL said no to Arizona and pulled the January 31, 1993 game from Tempe.

The National Football League after pulling the 1993 game went back to Arizona and laid the cards out on the table telling voters if they approved the holiday in a November 1992 vote, the NFL would award the next available Super Bowl to Tempe. Arizona voters approved the 1992 ballot initiative and five months later the NFL lived up to their part of the bargain and granted Tempe the January 28, 1996 game. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day was an Arizona holiday.

Sort of a strawman argument. It's just as easy to throw out "please show me evidence that he did it for political gain"

Also, he doesn't talk about changing his stance to become president as you state, in that video.

I wish you would just ignore the thread. How angry would you be if I went in a RIP thread for some great American who was black that was a leader for something I opposed, and shit all over them. Instead, I'd just say RIP or not say anything. Your agenda doesn't need to be shared unprovoked

It's sad our country is this divided that we can't even all pay respects to someone who dedicated his life to help people. Maybe not always how you'd like, but dedicated nonetheless.

So now you're going to tell me how I meant it even after I explained how I meant it? You're having a rough day buddy.

I admire your sense of decorum.
I'm guilty if it when it comes to the Blazers. It's fun to ruffle feathers. This is a man's life we are talking about. Just no need for all the horse shit in this thread.

My thought is to look at it as a memorial of sorts. If you disagreed so adamantly with him you need to spew your harsh words, then just don't go

McCain's Senate colleague and good friend Ted Kennedy died on the same date, Aug. 25, nine years earlier, from the same rare aggressive brain cancer, the tumor glioblastoma. Coincidence? Or arranged?

It can all be explained by the deep state which is controlled by little green men from Mars, I tell ya. This is why Trump wears a tin foil hat to bed, so the little green men with their antennas sprouting out of their bald heads can't interject any more of those nasty voices that plague him constantly.

maybe the Senate needs a new helmet law to keep harmful rays from entering the brain...

was really glad to see Trump uninvited to McCain's funeral though.

They despised each other, Trump would never have gone anyway.

He was elected President to drain the swamp, not eulogize it.

1...why would Trump despise McCain?...ahh, ok...because McCain was a "captured POW" and therefore according to Trump was not a hero?

2...Instead of draining the swamp, Trump has added to it.

Don't engage with the bot.
