Jordan Kent out, Calabro in talks to come back

Grow up. Criticize him on talent, not where he has worked in the past.

When Bob Whitsitt hired Kevin Calabro from the Kansas City-Omaha Kings, no one in Seattle complained that he was hiring another NBA team's play-by-play announcer. I remember it well.

Calabro is not originally a "Seattle guy."

He doesn't have to be originally from seattle. We fired someone in Barrett who was ours, who I found to be awesome and very talented, for Calabro, who became the Seattle guy, whether adopted or whatever, that I can not stand to listen to. Irregardless of if he was a Seattle guy or not.

mike barrett was insufferable. dude drove me insane with how up and down he was.

and he was a bigger homer than Rice-- rice was at least endearing.

I’m just saying nobody cares about ties to Seattle and the hidden meaning to it.

I don’t blame the Blazers. There’s a market up north that’s HUGE with no NBA basketball I would do whatever it takes to cram our product down their throats to milk money out of it. Honestly they should do the same further north to Vancouver BC. And maybe even Boise. Saturate Blazer shit all over those cities and milk it.

That’s what Mariners and Seahawks do down here..
I don’t think there is an agenda or need to worry. I just don’t like a guy who called games and rooted for our biggest rival now calling games for us. I think it’s disingenuous

That was also like 30 years ago when they didn't have our opinionated asses to speak on it in a message board.

So you believe that once an opponent, always an opponent. I'm sure you're consistent: We should never trade for a player on another NBA team, since he tried to make us lose in past games. Germany, Japan, and Britain are still the enemy.

It really seems to me like there was non stop complaining in here about the Mike's...until they got fired. Then all of a sudden everyone loved them. I didn't really care for them. Was happy they got fired. I like Calabro and Hurd, personally.

I really like Rice as the third guy on a broadcast. Hope they bring him back for only home games or something.

Was listening to him and MB on a podcast with Wheels a while back and Rice is still so engaged with the team and roster. Was sad to see him go. Barrett, I was happy to see go.

We can just think differently, it’s cool. I’m trying to love everyone. I’m sorry I’m unable to express my feelings in a way that’s clear.

Rice went because he started saying offensive shit. There was no way the team would have kept him any longer.

I was glad when Calabro left. I didn't think highly of him at all, although he probably got tainted by Lamar Hurd a bit in my preferences. I didn't know what to think when Kent was hired, but game 1 it became apparent he was going to be an issue

IMO, Calabro & Hurd were a downgrade from Mike & Mike
I definitely agree.

It had come to the point I couldn't take one more, "loose ball, out of bounds off the Jazz....Blazer ball!! Oh, off the Blazers they say" from Barrett. He wasn't calling the game, he was calling what he hoped would happen. I can appreciate a homer (love Wheels) but it just got so old hearing that time and time again.

I’ll listen to the game in fuckin Hungarian as long as I get to watch my Blazers! First world problems..

Better that than “loose ball out of bounds, off the Jazz…….Sonics ball…….er I mean Blazers

Completely fair critique. But I'll take Calabro making an obviously understandable mistake to Barret's continually wishful broadcasting that had to be corrected over and over again.
And don't get me started on his off- season huperbole assessments of how good players were looking or how Steve Blake was just any of being Magic Johnson from the way he talked about him.

Give me a homer/fan of the team over someone who used to actively root against us when calling games……as he should have

It was very clear. Whatever you do, don't ever leave the board again!
