Or just make some medium-grade trades like Denver did to improve the roster.
Trade for Gordon:
The Orlando Magic traded forward Aaron Gordon to the Denver Nuggets on Thursday, it was announced.
In exchange, veteran shooting guard Gary Harris, rookie R.J. Hampton and Denver's protected 2025 first-round pick went to the Magic.

Trade for KCP:
The Denver Nuggets have added veteran swingman Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and guard Ish Smith in a trade with the Washington Wizards. In the deal, the Wizards receive Monte Morris and Will Barton from the Nuggets.

Nuggets receive:

• Kentavious Caldwell-Pope

• Ish Smith

Wizards receive:

• Monte Morris

• Will Barton

Honestly, this guy isn’t really on my radar so I have no idea what his reputation is, I’ve hear more bad than good.

Is he blueballing me right now? 4-5 1sts, meaning we could possibly end up with 4 1sts from the Holiday deal?? That would be insane.

he's annoying, and a shill, but is currently a position where he hears stuff that has proven accurate.

If taking Collins means more picks I'd be totally cool with that, I was just thinking that Miami might want Collins along with Jrue in which case I'd take an expiring instead of Collins and maybe even get Miami to cough up another pick or a couple of swaps.
At this point, I don’t think he’s viewed as a possible asset around the league. He’d be more of a salary dump. I don’t think the Heat are going to want him at his salary.

He’s still 25 though. Best case scenario, he plays into being a trade-able piece or plays himself into a position to opt out after the ‘24-‘25 season.

"4 or 5 firsts" would imply that Jrue is traded for 3-4 first's. Seems very optimistic
3 firsts doesn't seem optimistic coming from an eastern conference team, or a team with more picks than they can use.
Teams like Boston and Miami don't want to sit by and watch Milwaukee dominate for the next few years.
Edit: this is their one chance to get Jrue.

I'd rather get a picks and prospects right now. Collins is a pretty known commodity and I don't think we want low level starters taking up minutes from our prospects unless they are experienced winners who can show our guys how it's supposed to be done and that's not Collins.

I don't care if we win one game this season, I only care about the development and assessment of our prospects.

Do we have a young forward prospect on the team who has the potential to be as good as Collins? I am not sure we do. I am okay with getting Chicago's deal and going after Williams. But if that is not an option Collins is not that bad.

Depending on the picks I'd personally be happy with someone as good as Collins coming back at a position of need. Just because Scoot is a rookie doesn't mean every single other player needs to be an unproven project. Scoot/Shae/Ant/Collins/Grant/Ayton is a good young core that can compete now.

Agreed. Danny is setting fans (and himself?) up for disappointment I think. Is there a way they could get to 4 picks (with Milwaukee pick included)? Maaay-be.. but 5 picks? I hardly see that as being possible.

Here is the only way they get to 5 in my opinion. They trade with Boston, who throws in only Brogdon, salary filler (no Timelord). Boston trades us three pretty crappy firsts, and somehow manage to talk the Clippers into taking on Brogdon for another first.

Even then, we might prefer a different deal with less, but higher quality firsts. I think Danny is exaggerating a bit here... as he has been wont to do.

Absolutely. I don't think Scoot needs rookies at all. It's just a timeline to keep players around him.

Depending of picks would be the caveat, but yeah I agree. We kind of already know what he’ll be, so he has an established floor. He’s the backup 4 behind Grant. If Kris and Walker want to get on the floor, they’re going to have to prove they can shoot, defend, and hustle more than Collins. They are low ceiling players who are suppose to be NBA ready, we don’t need to pour minutes into them until they show they can compete.

He would be like Brogdon or Ball, guys who would be good as an off-the-bench piece, except he’s healthy right now.

How many picks? That is very "Meh" for the players going to Portland.
Disagree.
Collins (in a down year) is an average NBA starter quality player.
JJJ has Hart potential
I agree that Jovic is meh
But all-in-all, not a bad return

Jovic is only 20. The guy has a great feel for the game IMO. Great passer that Shae and Ayton would benefit from.
He could be a bust but I would not sleep on him either. Again he is only 20.

Blazers send Holiday to OKC for Dort Dieng Bertans, 3 of their less valuable FRP (2024 UTA 2025 MIA 2027 DEN)

Blazers send Dort filler to Miami for Herro and 2028 FRP, Blazers eat Duncan Robinson shit contract

Blazers send Herro to CHA for 2028 FRP

So Blazers acquire FIVE picks, taking on Duncan Robinson and Davis Bertans shitty contracts. Add the Bucks picks and it's SIX first round picks for Lillard!!!

Heat get Hayward Hield Dort Theis while getting our of Herro and DR shit contracts
Hornets get Herro Dieng for a pick
Pacers get a Miami FRP for switching Hield with Lowry

Didn’t they trade multiple 1sts to trade up for Dieng? Hard to believe they’d give up this much for Holiday.

where the fuck was the complaint?

what I wondered about was the big enthusiasm some people have for Kuminga. Maybe he'll be great; maybe he won't. I've said before I haven't watched that much of him.

You said “Idon’t get the big enthusiasm for kuminga because the rest of package will be shit”

he’s a good young prospect at a position/type of player need.

and who said the rest of the package would he shit?
I’d rather have an nba product that can’t see the floor because he’s behind a bunch of championship veterans that fits our timeline than a 2 picks from Boston in 5 years.
And we’d probably get picks in too if kuminga anyway. Maybe not 2 but

His defense looks like a no go. I don't think that's going to change much. We need to look at fit as much as talent. We need to lead with defense.
