This is why I’ve never been a diehard Drexler fan. The man had no heart. It was always about Clyde, not the team. At least Lillard is a leader from the get go. Drexler was constantly whining about his contract. Blazer management tore up his contract at least twice (that I remember) and he was “grateful” for a year or two before he started sulking again. And even after all that, Paul Allen traded him to his hometown (and his college homie) so he could ride the coat tails of the defending champions and get a ring. And he still shits on us. I’ve heard it argued here that the Pistons and Bulls beat us in the finals because they had more talent. I call bullshit on that. Those teams had strong leaders with heart (regardless of how many of them were true assholes). Thomas, Dumars, Jordan et al knew that if they got into Drexler’s head, the rest of the Blazers would follow. and that’s what happened. Can you imagine Dame allowing that to happen on a real talent laden team? Drexler had mad skills but to place him in the pantheon of all time greats is ludicrous. He’s a hollow man......
