If you like the plate lunch u gotta get this Korean/Hawaiian dish callled Meat Jun. You can only really get it at Korean Hawaiian plate lunch dives.

It's like thinly pounded beef coated in egg batter. It's the fucking shit. I got hooked on it as a kid from a spot in Beaverton called teriyaki express....it's now in tualatin on 72nd or bones ferry road or some shit.

Awesome is the word! But man, those things fresh will dissolve the lips off a haole new to the Islands. It might be the quantity.

He will literally shit from eating too many pineapples

There's a Costco right by the airport. Were there for 8 days. Might go there, but there is a Foodland? pretty close to us. House has a full kitchen.

If there is a Safeway or Albertson's there they will deliver your first online order for free.

My son actually is Hawaiian born...has a Hawaiian godfather and was given a Hawaiian name at birth by real Hawaiian friends.....I'll always be a haole though...I know how to do that..it's like being dviss and growing up in Portland

Anybody take a helicopter tour over there?

Rented two, made them fly in close formation so that we could take photos from one helicopter to the other.

@HCP Have you left yet? I'll throw some pix on here of Maui when I get there in a few days.

No sir, leave Monday morning.
Would love to see any pics. Throw them in our random picture thread at the top of the OT page

You have mastered that, hey? I have been there 5 times now and I don't think I have quite got the hang of it.
Music opened doors for me with the locals....and I lent a Hawaiian neighbor my car when his truck broke down so he could get to work, then helped him fix his truck for a couple days in the rain...after that he introduced me to real Hawaii...I could go to places most haoles never get invited to...I now have very, very close Hawaiian friends ....great people if you don't strut around like the millions of tourists who think money buys them favors....

You are fortunate to have musical talent. You probably received my share.
