So your position is that Obama got elected because he was black? Or just that Americans are colorblind, so it made no difference what color his skin was?

No there's a third choice.

There are many more people who didn't care that he was black than the ones who did. For or against.

Sure, but that kind of misses the point I was trying to make.

If there are more people who vote against you because you are X, rather than for you because you are X, then that's a negative for getting elected. No matter what fraction of the population cares about X. Being black or being female is probably a negative rather than a positive. How big a negative, I don't know.

It can be outweighed by a lot of other factors - in Obama's case, I'd say (a) Obama's superb campaign, (b) the financial crisis, and (c) Sarah Palin - but in a tight race it can be the deciding factor.

Clearly, in Obama's elections, it wasn't close and wasn't the deciding factor. If Hillary had been black in 2016 in addition to female, I'd guess she would have gotten fewer votes - do you disagree?

So it seems that Kavanaugh did some dirty deeds back when he worked for the Bush administration, and then lied to Congress, under oath, about it. Multiple times.

It's really kind of an amazing story - a Republican staffer managed to steal documents from the Senate democrats, sent the stolen documents to Kavanaugh (subject line: spying). Kavanaugh was asked about this incident in his confirmation hearings in 2004 and again in 2006 - and both times denied that he had any knowledge whatsoever of it. However, emails have now turned up proving that he was, in fact, involved. So now his story is a very Trumpian "hey, everybody does it". But even if that were true, it's not consistent with his earlier testimony.

And this isn't the only case where he lied under oath... and Republicans are about to give him a seat on the Supreme Court.

Wrong.

The percentage of minority candidates that get elected far outweighs the percentage of Caucasian Male candidates that get elected.

The same biased leanings have also existed in all Federal Employment opportunities and most college admissions opportunities since the racist and sexist Affirmative Action Program was implemented decades ago.

Assuming that's a true statement, I'd guess that a big reason why is that most races are one white male vs. another, so one of them has to lose.

Garland, of course, will have to immediately recuse himself.
 
Both Cory Booker and Kamala Harris have been publicly exposed for blatantly lying about Judge Kavanaugh in their grandstanding attacks in the hearings. Anyone watching these hearings can only cringe as they watch the Dems step up one by one and commit political suicide with childish antics and obvious obstruction of the hearings.
 
Booker is also likely facing an ethics complaint for his antics.

They can ask the DOJ to file one, but have no basis to do so.

Desperate fake news. The confirmation is imminent.

Well, if when corruption is uncovered, the response of voters is to shrug and say all politics is corrupt, that paves the way for more of the same. Get pissed and vote the corrupt, and the enablers of the corrupt, out of office, that's the only way.

So what do you call it when the Republicans sat on Merrick Garland’s nomination for a year??? I eagerly await your anticipated rationalization.....because how can it be called anything but obstruction? Though I’m sure you’ll find a way........
