I do find it funny that people think shes lying.

Because someone would lie so they can have death threats, be uprooted, and change their entire lives... yeah. There's something there. She ain't lying

Nope. They did it because they could. If the democrats could block this now they will.

They have a reason to block this appointment.

There was no reason for the ReThuglicans to block Obama's nomination.

I wish dems would be more cut throat though. I'm tired of them getting fucked by the party more willing to get in the mud.

Whereas Kavanaugh has every reason in the world to lie.

I just noticed your back and forth.

He's rumored to have a very large back and forth, but maybe you should take it PMs?

Murkowski says she's with Flake, which is good. She says the investigation should be 'limited in scope', which is bad.

"find the facts, but not too many facts, please"

barfo
Im glad there is an investigation.
For Dr. Ford benefit I hope they find out you leaked her letter.
And if I were here I'd fire her attorneys for not disclosing she could have met on her terms privately.

It wasn't me. I haven't even read her letter, much less leaked it.

I'm innocent, damn it! This accusation has destroyed my family! I'll may never coach girl's basketball again, and that's the one thing I loved more than anything else!

See, what I do not understand is that the terms of what the committee was willing to do was in the news every night..every cable station was riding it like it was the Steeple Chase.. how could she not know?

I find it disgusting and shameful.

If a woman can be treated like this in 2018 we have a long way to go.

I hope you know I was using "funny" in a ironic way. I am in complete aggreance with you, and always will be.

One of the best things I've seen in a LONG time. The amount of guilt and shame in his eyes. I applaud those women and all women who stand up against this system. I also stand with the people who are still working through the pain that sexual assault brings upon them. Justice needs to be served.

Simple question:

Who do you believe, him or her?

...yeah, like I said, I gotta believe that had an effect on him.

...it's OK, man...you're still a member of The American Barfo Association.

Seems like if ever there was a "nuclear option" time, it's now, right? I mean, assume the R's do whatever they need to do to get Kavanaugh in. Even if the Blue Wave does materialize this fall (I have my doubts, but whatever), they can't vote him and Gorsuch out. So then they're stuck hoping that somehow Breyer and RBG both outlive/outwork Thomas and Alito, or else it's 5-2/5-3 until Trump gets his next pick (likely a compromise candidate, but what the F*** does that look like in "scorched earth politics mode"?) and even if a D wins in 2020 keeping the SEnate they can only get back to a 5-4 deficit.

It's not like I'm being original in this. This scenario has likely been Fear #1 of the D's since Kennedy retired. They tried to filibuster Gorsuch (for an old, fake plagiarism matter, iirc), but this is it for them for the next generation or so. Knowing that every step towards the Bright New Future can be struck down for the next generation for unconstitutionality is a powerful motivator for people (and especially politicians) to do all manner of sordid things.

@dviss1 , it's interesting to me that you think the D's are not being cutthroat or playing in the mud. By my (admittedly not-as-up-to-speed-as-many count), the R's/Trump have:
a) started to do Presidential bidding through Executive Orders when he couldn't get congressional support (see: DACA and Obama's "so sue me" comment)
b) held up the nomination of a SC judge in an election year (according to McConnell/Grassley's invocation of the Biden Rule)
c) placed Gorsuch onto the Supreme Court (by McConnell invoking the Harry Reid Option)
...basically, using the low-down-dirty political tricks of the Democrats against them. In a way McConnell predicted. And in a way that Harry Reid still stands by.
Schumer has voiced regret about the nuclear option since Trump’s election, telling CNN earlier this month that he had argued internally for keeping the 60-vote threshold not only for Supreme Court nominees but for the Cabinet as well.

Reid, who retired earlier this month, has no such regret. “I doubt any of us envisioned Donald J. Trump’s becoming the first president to take office under the new rules,” he wrote in The New York Times in December. “But what was fair for President Obama is fair for President Trump.”

Apologies for not reading the first 1200 posts in this thread, but for the guys stating that Kavanaugh should be disqualified or that he's perjuring himself, what was it in the testimony of Ford that changed this from a vague allegation into anything resembling reasonable cause? Even the prosecutor briefed the Judiciary that she couldn't even get a search warrant based on the testimony--how can you remotely suggest a crime? The people she said could corroborate it said they don't.

I'm not challenging, I'm asking because guys like Barfo generally see the world in a different manner than I do and I'm confused by this. Were this an accusation against me in this position I can't help thinking I'd feel similarly brutalized.

That is a tough question, D.

I tend to believe both.

I think that she believes what she is saying. I believe that she was is a situation like she described. I think she honestly thinks that it was Brett. I also believe that she is mistaken.

As to Brett, I have to believe the evidence provided and his integrity he has lived his life by. I do not believe that he was the guy that did the deed.

Kavanaugh allegedly lied around 5 or 6 times before the Ford allegation even came up.

How's that fence sitting working for you? There isn't 2 truths. One is lying and one is telling the truth.

People lie even with those consequences

One is lying and one is telling the truth.
If he did assault her (and I think it's more likely than not that he did), then that's definitely the case.

But in the unlikely event that he didn't assault her, you don't think it's possible that she's simply wrong rather than lying?

She said with 100% confidence that it was Brett Kavanaugh and Mark Judge in the room with her. I don't see it as a case of mistaken identity as it comes down to he either did it and is lying, or he didn't do it and she is lying.
