Kawhi wants out of SA

I don’t think Harris/12/13 is enough for Kawhi. The Lakers just have better pieces to move, sadly.
Knowing that Kawhi to the Lakers will lead to Lebron and PG13 joining him there, they'd be better off sending him to the Clippers, even with a lesser return.

But does Kawhi re-sign? That’s the biggest question right now. The only places I see Kawhi commiting to are Lakers or Boston OR if by the grace of God LeBron convinces him to come to Cleveland and Cleveland parts ways with the 8th pick, future pics and filler

If for some reason LeBron actually chose to come to Portland, Blazer fan would be like...

You know what sums up the situation beautifully?

Why does everyone want to go to the Lakers?

LA-- I understand, but the Lakers? At least one thing is for certain, he doesn't control his destiny and can't force the Spurs hand. They can trade him wherever they want to. He can kick and scream about not signing an extension, but SA is the one petty-ass team that will send him to the far corners of the NBA first before trading him to LA. Regardless of how deflated the offers are.

Outside of the Blazers, I've been done for the last 2 years because of predictability.
Me, too. I haven’t watched a second of the NBA finals the last two years. I’m sick of NBA stars ganging up to win titles. This whole thing has gotten ridiculous.

The Stein tweet I quoted earlier said he was interested in both the Clippers and the Lakers. And if you're the Spurs, do you really care if he'll re-sign there? Buford should be on the phone with them right now--"Neither of us want him to go to the Lakers, so it's clearly in your best interests to deal for him yourselves."

Then don’t watch?

I don't. I do not watch any other NBA basketball other than the Blazers. The Finals? Didn't watch it.

I used to love watching the Magic with Shaq and Penny. I loved watching the Bulls with MJ and Pippen. I loved watching the Pacers with Reggie Miller.

The league is a joke now.

There will only be 4 relevant teams, might was well contract the league because no one outside of those 4 cities is going to give a shit.BNM
Yep. The NBA is killing the goose that laid the golden egg.

Surprisingly my wife who watches zero basketball during the season, enjoyed watching the NBA finals this year. Because she knows who LBJ and Steph are and likes watching them.

Not sure how this is any different from any other dynasty. I hated the Bulls with Jordan. I hated the Piston/Knicks style of basketball. I still watched.

Granted the Lakers/Celtics in the 80s are still the best, but it was also still also a foregone conclusion who would make it to the finals.

I hope you’re right. The rest of the NBA needs to do whatever it takes to break this players’ choice Super team crap before it destroys the league. If it’s just going to become 4 or 5 cities that are the basketball Meccas for the league’s primadonnas, what is the point for the rest of the league’s teams and their fans?

Why do people keep saying the Lakers have a lot to offer?

Who do they have who looks like becoming an all-star? Ingram? I don't see it. Lonzo? Don't make me laugh. And they don't even have a high pick. Plus they have to unload Deng to clear cap space and they'll need to mortgage future picks for that.

Remember: Pop was INCENSED about the trade that sent Pau Gasol to the Lakers. I have a feeling he REALLY HATES the Lakers.

Given Kawhi's strange health issues and unlikelihood of staying in Portland, I wouldn't offer CJ. But I'd offer San Antonio the chance to unload a lot of bad salary and these players certainly fit their "culture". (Obviously throw in a pick or two and maybe even Zach, but only if Kawhi's health checks out.)

This "pre-agent" (aka a player making trade demands to particular destinations while still under contract) concept Bill Simmons is throwing around is really a thing (. Players seem to hold a lot of leverage the year before they're truly free agents because they can help dictate where they want to go. Wish Aldridge had done this in 2014 and we could have gotten something out of him.

But in recent history, CP/PG/Kyrie / Cousins and now Kawhi are all wielding a ton of power the year before they hit FA. Wonder if Jimmy Butler will jump into this ring.
