It's exactly what meant.

Meaning, if it took a man and woman to conceive the child, then, IMO, that child has (er, should have) the natural "right" to be raised by them, as well.

i'm objecting to your mis-use of the word natural. as i said young of most (all?) other higher mammal species as well as more primitive humans are/were NOT actively raised exclusively by a mother and father. you're talking about something that is a matter of modern human tradition with religious underpinnings, not some intrinsic natural right.

Hmmmmmmmm.........OK?

I disagree. It's natural that a child has a mother and a father as a child can only be born from a mother and a father. To deny a child that opportunity is to deny the child it's inalienable rights.

did you even read my post? in most/all other higher mammal species young are actively raised either only by the mother or communally among multiple families. evidence indicates primitive human children lived and were raised in communal groups. there IS NO intrinsic "natural right" for children to be raised exclusively by the mother/father family unit scheme. nature doesn't care about rights. what you call inalienable rights are nothing more than a matter of modern human tradition. nature just goes with what works, and there is no evidence a child being raised by two men or two women doesn't work just as well as by one of each.

So the constitutional amendment to ban divorce is next on your agenda?

Even divorce itself can't separate the link between the child and his/her natural mother and father. I absolutely feel for the children in divorce situations.

I think we'll also need a constitutional amendment to ban premature death.

Okay, I'm a bit confused.

I have assumed from your avatar that you are gay, and quite proud of it. But here you are offering the standard innaccurate, unsupportable, thinly disguised rant of bigotry that I expect from cowardly homophobes with a 3rd grade education.

Are you gay or not? :dunno:

No, I'm not Gay. I just like walking around the beaches in Greece with my Speedo's and a little Bling Bling. Jeez, talk about closed minded.

And I'm not at all a homophobe. I'm just against same sex marriage. Simple as that. I'm a Christian, and my beliefs mean more to me than any government laws or mandates. At the end of the day, I pray more for non Christians than I pray for Christian, because they are the ones who need the prayers more. And if MARIS61 is gay, I have no problem with that. Good luck in your love life. Just don't tell me I'm a bigot because I don't support your right to marry your boyfriend, your mother or your sister.

in another few generationsl most of the religious bigots like you will be dead, their grandchildren will have become enlightened, fundamentalist christianity will be reduced to the fringe cult it should be as is rapidly happening right now in europe, and society in the US can get on with a rational discourse about issues like gay rights free from prejudice carried over from primitive superstitious times. i don't anticipate living long enough to see it, but it's definitely coming.

What do you mean? Physician assisted suicide?

No, I meant parents dying, and thus depriving their children of their "inalienable right" to a two parent, one M, one F, home.

Hasn't that been predicted for over 2000 years? I'm sure your the genious that has it all figured out. I'm still trying to figure out what if anything I have said is bigoted. I believe Homosexuality is wrong and immoral. I don't think that gays should be herded up and shipped to France. Live your life the way you want. I don't have to applaud you for doing so. But I won't condemn you either.

Talk about being a bigot.

i'm only bigoted against religious bigots who think their personal religious values should be forced on a secular society. otherwise i love everybody : )

At least you're up front about it. I can certainly appreciate that.

But your beliefs, as whacko as they are should be forced on people? Go burn a book, a flag, or your bra.

I'll agree to answer that question if every self identified heterosexual on this board answers, publicly, one question.

Have you ever felt sexually attracted to, or in love with, someone of your own sex?

Sure have. Watched Taxicab Confessions on HBO years ago and there was a hot cuban chick in the cab talking about this and that. I was like, DAMN that bitch is hot.

Then she admitted that she in fact was a HE.

whoops.

Yeah, like them there penguins. Notice how they have built society into what it is today...oh wait, that was humans. My bad.

Nobody is forcing you to marry a man, or even a woman.

It's a matter of personal choice.

So butt out of other people's lives and curse them in private if you must.

that boggles my mind. i have never heard a gay person say they felt it was a handicap, and if they did think so it would only be because of the pressure of ignorant religious prejudice to conform.

your opinion. i grew up watching MTV and the music exposed me to a lot of culture that my life would have otherwise lacked. it didn't make me a sex-crazed socially harmful deviant. and again i don't see anyone legislating to ban MTV, so not sure what your point is in the first place.

so gay marriage would help speed the collapse of society and traditional religious values are the only reason it hasn't collapsed already? you should study western europe.

2 more things.

That simple fact that you mentioned the word music and MTV in the same sentence indicates that you haven't watched the channel in about oooooooooooooooohhhhhh......10 years at least.

and

I don't give a fuck about western Europe.

what the hell are you talking about? the only thing i'm advocating is that your religious values shouldn't be forced on others that don't share them.

american society is what it is today because of the tolerance for others people's views, something you're arguing for the opposite of.

i'm well aware of what MTV has become, doesn't matter. neither videos nor non-stop reality shows turns kids into social deviants.

I don't give a fuck about western Europe.

you should. their tolerant secular societies have on average a much higher standard of living than we do - less crime, better education opportunities etc.

Change the phrase "tolerate for" to "enthusiatic advocation of" and see if the first part of your post still makes sense.

This society doesn't tolerate a million things. Gay marriage must somehow be one of those things that the normal majority has to promote?

We sure as hell tolerate it enough as it is.

My girlfriend is a regional manager for a large corporation in the biotech industry. One of her employees had a dent in his car so he stopped by our house to have me look at the car.

The fruitcake got out of his car wearing Daisy Dukes and a sleevless green shirt that didn't cover about 12 inches of his stomach.

Yeah, I told him he needed to get back in his car and get the fuck out of my neighborhood.

Oops, guess I am a bigot. Good thing I am not religious, then I would be really fucked up in the head.

You are so right, kids these days are just a perfect example of manners and morality. :tsktsk:

As for their high standard of living, sounds like paradise. Move there, tell me how you did it and I will join you.

Oh wait, isn't it illegal in Germany to say that the holocaust didn't happen?:devilwink:

Maybe America needs to get its shit together and make people who deny the moon landing = criminals.

Not to be a bigot or anything but what is the racial makeup of these amazing secular societies of which you speak?

Do they pay illiterate trashy women more welfare for more babies? If not, sign me up.
