You went to OSU in the mid 80's?
No, I went from the mid 60s thru to the mid 70s with a war, a disability requiring VA hospitalization and a nasty bad assed divorce in between,
If I remember right Erik was our quarterback beginning in 1970 if memory serves me.

Lanny, I grew up right off McVey Blvd.....a few blocks from Palisades Lanes. Do you remember that place? All us kids in the neighborhood started bowling there when we were around 11 or 12. I really enjoyed it. Ended up working there as a pin spotter when I was around 15. Got paid $2.50/hr plus free bowling. It was a pretty good gig for a young teen. I think I ended up averaging around 192. I think I was 18. Thought about becoming a pro around that time. That is, until an HBO-televised tournament came to town at the bowling alley. Man, I saw those guys and said forget it! *sigh*
I I know McVey because I take it at least three times a week going to and from dialysis. I prefer going the other way on South Shore so I can cross the lake at three places enjoying the beauty but they've closed down Boones Ferry where it crosses Tryon Creek and just before arriving at Terwiliger because they're rebuilding the bridge over the creek due to some sort of blockage of the creek. The work should be done this Spring. For now I take State street to one end point of terwiliger and go all the way to the VA.
I remember going bowling somewhere with my cousin and his date and my date when we were about 16 which was probably Palisades. I now live in upper Palisades which was upper upper class when I was a boy and First Addition where I grew up was the poor part of Oswego. Now it's reversed and homes in First Addition start at somewhere between $1.1 Million and $1.2 Million and up. At one time Tryon Creek's forest was in our back yard and now that's where some of the most expensive homes are. I spent a lot of time fishing in Tryon creek with no success. Had better luck fishing for oh so delicious perch in Oswego Lake. Even caught a catfish in that lake.

I remember Erik but I just looked him up and I must have remembered him from the late 80s. I did attend several Civil War games back then.
Just looked up the toilet bowl which I went to in 1983.
