Assuming Kidd demands a trade and Thorn honors his request, what could we possibly get in return? I would imagine Kidd wants to go to a contender. Joining LeBron on the Cavs? Kidd and Krstic for Illgauskas, Gibson, Newble and Jones. But that would be a terrible trade. Going to LA to be with Kobe? We can get Kwame and Odom. Would the Lakers even want to trade Odom? All the other teams I can think of have great point guards, like Nash, Williams, Paul, Parker, Billups. If he gets traded to the Heat I will kill myself. It's not possible to go to the Celtics because of the money situation. I don't see what could be done.

If this team is blown up and we trade Kidd, I honestly think the best thing to do is send Carter packing too. We'd obviously be in rebuilding mode and we don't need a 30 year old shooting guard. Think about it. Marcus is 22, Sean is 21, Krstic is 24 and Jefferson is 27. Hopefully we can re-sign Wright, somehow get rid of Boki, Boone and Collins and we'd have an entertaining team for now and possibly a player once we move to Brooklyn.

I'm starting to get disillusioned right now so maybe I'm crazy but what are you guys opinions?

Of all the trades I put up top, I like one with the Pistons I didn't mention. That would be Kidd for Billups and Amir Johnson (not sure if it would work in the trade machine). We have a leader in Billups and Amir + Sean can grow to be a great tandem.

Thorn is a notorious wait and see guy.

I don't see any trades until the deadline but yeah If the Nets don't have a decent record by January its time to blow it up.

Trading Kidd is not the answer. We've got the pieces for him to be successful, its just a matter of getting them to blend. If you trade Kidd everything on this team goes to hell. Plus although a bit of a sunk cost, I think by giving Carter all that money we'd rather make changes necessary to win a championship rather than build for the future. Lets get rid of Frank and get someone who will light a fire under these guys bums

So many questions to it though.

Does Frank go too?

What about Carter?

I've not really said it before, but, I'm going to say it now: Frank needs to go. I think.

Hill might do. Frank should have his bags packed.

The Nets start like this every year, and this same thread gets posted every year and no one gets traded every year and Frank doesn't get fired every year.

And we get kicked out of the 2nd round every year.

Man, I hope so. I think in order to avoid that it'll take some of the changes that have been rumored over the past season to take place

Not sure trading Kidd makes us better. Pretty sure getting rid of Franlin will.

...unless you were being cheeky and meant that we can't get knocked out of the 2nd round if we get knocked out of the first (or don't make the playoffs!). Then those changes really need to happn.

The Nets need a miracle to make the playoffs this year.

Everyone assumed Jason Kidd was ageless and would be able to play at his insanely high level forever, and that is just not the case.

Really? How doo you know this?

Trading Kidd solves nothing. No team is willing to give up the quality point gaurd that is going to keep us a winning franchise.

Frank on the other hand hasn't taken us to two Finals even though he's done a good job.

I'm using the force. Kidd opens his venting with a "let go of the rope" Frankism. Uses a 3 year timeframe, RJ said the west coast trip luck started 3 years ago. When did Frank take over?

Then see Frank respond with "the question is, what are you going to do as a player and what are you going to do as a coach to fix it." This while still not fully aware of what Kidd said in his interview.

I think Franks statement is anticipating Kidds discontent. I bet they have had words, but are maintaing a professional front. Kidd bailed out tonight, and seemed distracted. I'd rather he spar with Joumana than Frank tho', at least Kidd dosen't that get into his game.

Ahhhh, here's the Old Jason Kidd that's been waiting in the wings since 2004. The one everyone called a coach killer.

Marion, Kirlenko, Kobe, Jermaine all go out there, demand trades, and nothing gets done, cause it shoots their value in the foot.

J-Kidd plays it smart - he lets out a few frustrated comments here and there, and a few rumours to float about how angry he is in the locker room. Next thing you know, he's on the first plane out of town for $.50 on the dollar.

The sad thing is, that's looking like the best-case scenario at this point.

Since when did you buy into the Kidd-rhetoric? One game of 6 TO's and you're ready to forget that he leads the NBA in triple doubles this season?

I'm saying (over and over for years...) that he is human, and he cannot continue to play at this level forever.

At some point, he will no longer be a player that can lead a team to a title. (Probably that's now.)

He also isn't healthy, which is partially his fault and partially a natural part of getting older.

His attitude about being traded along with his offseason nonsense tells you all you need to know about his belief in his ability to get the Nets over the top.

That he can't do it alone and needs some help? Hell kobe's saying the same thing, but I wouldn't call him damaged goods. Yeah Kidd isn't the bionic man, but regardless of his age he's still performing at a level that makes the Nets a condenting team in the east as long as you surround him with the resources he needs to get it done. The Nets are in a tough spot right now, but its worth making a single personel change so that we can get over the hump; I believe we're that close. It'd be a shame to give up now after we've come this far since we rebuilt after Kmart left.

I agree that there's no point in giving up.

Thorn does, too. That's why he didn't pull the trigger on those horrible trades last year.

The Nets have one of the bleakest futures in the NBA, so if there's any chance they can add a piece that can help them win now they should do that. (Although that ship has mostly sailed. Another miracle required.)

The Celtics are going to suck hard in five years. They aren't complaining right now.

GIVE IT 20 GAMES.

i would like to see kidd get that ring in nj but if thats not possible let him go whereever he agrees to because he deserves it. I would like to see mark jackson take over this team without kidd and carter and some young guys. lets start fresh.

our bench is looking like a bunch of lames right now. i know kidd hates playing with this group as of now. carter better help when he comes back or kidd is going to be pissed to a new degree.

Right now, this team looks a lot like the team that started the 2004-05 season. That team had Kidd (who missed the first few weeks), RJ, Eric Williams, Aaron Williams, Mourning, a young Krstic, Collins, Travis Best, Ron Mercer, Jacque Vaughn, Rodney Buford, Zoran, and Brian Scalabrine. That team was getting shelled left and right, had no offensive flow, and RJ was trying to be the go-to guy and failing. They started out 2-11 and 7-16. Their wins were by a handful of points (111-106 v. Chicago; 64-60 v. Portland; 88-86 v. Toronto; 94-91 v. New Orleans; 95-90 v. Atlanta). Of their first 16 losses (roughly when Carter was acquired), 13 were by more then 10 points.

Then Carter was acquired and fortunes changed.

Like that team, this one doesn't take advantage of Kidd's strengths, and includes a bunch of jumpshooters that can't hit any shots.

The similarities between that team and this one is pretty incredible.

It is amazing that, with the exception of Carter, this team's makeup is nearly the same as it was back then. Thorn and Stefanski have learned nothing.

Kidd was indifferent when he returned from his injury.

RJ tried to carry the load and was incapable of doing so.

Wright is the new Eric Williams--a nice player who can play some defense and hit a few shots, but if he's one of your go-to guys you are just in trouble. (BTW, I am a fan of Wright; he's played very good defense and was pretty aggressive on offense yesterday, but his shots weren't falling--but he's still at best just a nice complimentary player).

Boki is the new Zoran. Poor defense, repiutation as a shooter but can't hit shots.

Magloire, Malik Allen, and Boone replace Mourning, Scalabrine, and Aaron Williams (like Boone, Aaron played very little, but some fans argued that he should be given more of an opportunity). Malik v. Veal is a pretty good comparison, a role player that allegedly could hit an outside shot but was in reality pretty unreliable. At least Veal brought energy. Magloire v. Mourning . . . that one's good. I suspect that it is only a matter of days before Magloire starts to bitch.

Armstrong and Gill replace Jacque Vaughn and Best.

The ONLY differences I can see is Sean Williams, and that Marcus, when he returns, has more potential than Buford/Vaughn/Best.

When the Nets acquired Carter, everything fell into place. Krstic developed and Buford started hitting some shots.

This year, when Carter comes back, hopefully Krstic can eventually return to form and Boki can start hitting some shots.

The only reasons why this team might be better than that one is Marcus and Sean, and the jury is still out on Marcus.

Once again, the off-season acquisitions have been worthless. This year it is Magloire, Allen, and Armstrong. And, as has been the case every year, I'm not sure why they are on the team at all. I'll give Armstrong a pass because of Marcus' injury, although it's clear that they should have just gone with Gill from the get-go.

Once Carter is healthy, and Krstic rounds into form, this team will finish like that one did, barely make the playoffs.

Kidd to the Lakers for Bynum, Turiaf anf Farmar. Excellent rebuilding group.

QUOTE (CelticKing)

I hear Cleveland is looking for a PG.

They have nothing but garbage to trade. There would have to be a third team involved.

As for that Lakers deal, it was already rejected when Kidd could have made more of a difference.

Well Sactown could be involved in that trade. (bibby, artest and fillers)

We want young talent, not tired shit like Bibby and Artest. maybe Garcia, Douby, Hawes,.. I don't know
