The Knicks may have passed on Allen Iverson, but that doesn't mean Donnie Walsh isn't still looking to swing a trade for a desperately needed talent upgrade for his team.

And with the Rockets and Tracy McGrady not seeing eye to eye, is it possible he gets shipped to the Knicks? Alan Hahn of Newsday floats that theory today.

"Multiple sources say the Knicks have tried since the summer to engage the Rockets in trade talks for McGrady but have been unsuccessful," he writes.

"The Rockets would love to get a high-end young player for McGrady and also save some money, which suggests they also would look for an expiring contract or two. It will take more than one to make up McGrady's league-high $23.2-million salary this season.

"The Knicks could offer Eddy Curry, who could make up for the loss of Yao and has only one more year left on his contract after this season; add an expiring contract such as Chris Duhon, Al Harrington or Larry Hughes, and toss in someone such as Wilson Chandler as a sweetener."

Hahn notes McGrady could come in and play a large point guard for Mike D'Antoni, and with him becoming a free agent after this season, it doesn't put the team in any sort of long-term financial bind, meaning LeBron James would still be in play for them.

If he gets traded you have to wonder just how bad Yao's injury is.

I can't believe the Rockets would take Curry. I'd consider dealing them Brad Miller, which would be a much better return. I figure there are plenty of other teams out there that'd offer something better than Curry too.
