The Knicks have stopped negotiating with all free agent point guards, a source told Real GM, and the natural speculation is that they are pursuing Ricky Rubio.
Rubio planned to stay overseas after being drafted by Minnesota, but going to a high profile -- and warmer -- city like New York could lure the Spaniard back to the NBA. T'Wolves GM David Kahn reportedly went to Spain this week, possibly to work out this swap.
The source said, "Kahn and (Knicks President) Donnie Walsh are close and New York is looking for a cheap point guard who could help attract free agents next summer. Rubio fits that mold. I think that's what this latest trip to Spain is about, working something out with New York."
Those "free agents" they're trying to attract include LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade.

I wonder what the TWolves would want in return? The Utah Jazz own the Knicks 1st round pick next year and teams aren't allowed to trade 1st round picks back to back. I guess NY could offer their 2012 pick?
Knicks other potential players might include David Lee? Jordan Hill? Danilo Gallinari? Nate Robinson? Wilson Chandler?
Seems like a far fetched scenario.
