By the sound of it, though, Greg REALLY wants to play. Hopefully, he will get a game, or more, in before the team embarks on that long eastern road trip.

Just scope the damn knee! Lord he goes out after 10 days reinjures it again.....gone the rest of the season! Is that smart?

Are you a doctor? Have you seen his MRI?

No?

Then shut the fuck up and let those with medical degrees make the medical decisions.

Sheesh, everyone here thinks they know more about Greg's injury than the doctors who are actually treating him.

I don't tell other posters to shut the fuck up..... that's not exceptable!

in my professional opinion,

1. Oden needs to take 14-15 days off
2. He should not walk and should put heat compresses on his knee
3. For breakfast, he should have one egg,one apple and a protein shake
4. He should sleep in intervals of 2 hours at a time.

Just seems to me to all but kill discussion when attacks like that are permitted. I don't mind cursing but attacking a poster you'll never meet seems very young in education.

honestly, oden barely plays vs good teams anyway.... hes in foul trouble within 5 minutes

Don't worry, most of the people on here are just ***got ass shit eating rectal warts anyway.

And playing a doctor online is old in education? You know NOTHING about Oden's injury that hasn't been released by the team. Yet, you are recommending that he have surgery IMMEDIATELY. What is the basis for your surgical evaluation, Doctor?

Yeah, I told you to shut the fuck up - and you should if all you're doing is spouting nonsense on a topic you know nothing about. If that stifles these types of "contributions", good. That was the intent. I don't mind discussion, or dissentling opinion, but declaring someone needs surgery without ANY supporting medical evidence, is just plain ignorant and you deserved to be called on it.

There is no clique. Except the (imaginary) clique, perhaps, that so many people think they're not a part of.

maybe we should discuss this on the top secret, members only hidden blazers fans message board........

The clique is very exclusive. To be in it you must post on the BBF.

Did I already mention that it is very exclusive?

I'm apart of a clique. It includes all the white non-religious males on this board, between the ages 25-35, who are me.

So, anybody can speculate that Oden *doesn't* need surgery, but only someone with an MD can speculate that he *does*?

I may not know medicine, but I do have a grasp of simple math. Scope the knee: player misses 4-6 weeks. Scope the knee after stalling and stonewalling for a month: player misses 8-10 weeks.

Do I know for a FACT that he will need the knee scoped? No. OTOH, every day that passes without the knee getting better increases the odds that he will.

In my 'expert' opinion Greg should just amputate right above the kneecap. Problem solved.

When considering surgery, it is better to err on the side of caution than to start cutting when it may not be necessary. Besides, it's not speculation that he won't have surgery, it is the decision of Oden, the team and his doctors - you know the guys with actual medical degrees who have examined him and seen his MRI results.

There is an error in your simple math. You assume he could have had surgery immediately. That's not the case. Even if they would have determined he needed surgery, they wouldn't have performed it until the swelling went down. You don't go cutting into someone's knee when the soft tissue is abnormally swollen. So, add at least a week (possibly more) to you "simple math".

Now, try this one - rush to surgery when it isn't needed: one week (at least) for sweeling to subside, 4 - 6 weeks for recovery, player misses 5 - 7 weeks and risks infection and other post surgical complications. Wait for swelling to go down and pain to subside player misses 4 weeks.

Do I know for a FACT that he will need the knee scoped? No. OTOH, every day that passes without the knee getting better increases the odds that he will.

Or, it could also increase the odds that the bone chip will disolve and be absorbed. The point is we don't know. The doctors that have examined him have chosen this course of treatment over surgery. Since they are trained to make these decisions, and have actually examined him, I'm inclined to agree with their opinion over anonymous, non-medical personel that have never even met Greg Oden, but are recommending he have surgery immediately on an internet forum. It's not as much fun as playing internet doctor, but it seems the more sensible approach to the issue.

It isn't the end of the world. Joel is better than Oden right now anyway. It does certainly hurt our depth though.

Rizz, what's the word on Bynum? When is he due back?

Rizz, what's the word on Bynum? When is he due back?

Fuck if I know. The latest is that he is walking on it with no pain, no swelling, is riding a stationary bike and doing range of movement exercises. It seems there is a real positive mentality about this injury within the organization about there is no doubt he's coming back this year. I've gotten a much better vibe than last year's injury.

BOTH times Bynum was injured it was when he was playing the best ball of his career...what a kick in the nuts
