KP Just Said Oden Out 7-10 Days

BOTH times Bynum was injured it was when he was playing the best ball of his career...what a kick in the nuts

Clearly the Lakers are doing it all wrong. They should train him to play worse.

Personally I think they should have scoped Oden regardless of what BNM says. If there's a loose fragment in there I say get it the fuck out! Doctors aren't that smart that they cannot be second guessed.

Just scope the damn knee! Lord he goes out after 10 days reinjures it again.....gone the rest of the season! Is that smart?

Fuck scoping it! To save his season he requires a Medieval bloodletting!

--(although I'm not a physician, the Blazers should follow my diagnosis because I post in an anonymous internet forum)

Are these the same doctors who felt he could play the all star weekend if he had to and put his status as day to day?

Of course they are going to say surgery isn't required . . . I just hope they have good malpractice insurance. :D

They're "smart" enough that their word means a few thousand times more than a fan on the Internet with no medical training.

If Oden wanted a second opinion from another practicing doctor, that would be perfectly reasonable.

No, they are not. Oden was injured the night before the Rookie-Sophomore Challenge game and went straight from Oakland to Phoenix. The doctors in Portland did not see him until after he arrived back in Portland.

Unlike the wannabe "doctors" on this forum, most real doctors will not provide a diagnosis and recommended treatment until after they actually examine the patient.

That's what second opinions are for - from licensed physicians. Second opinions from posters on this forum who have neither medical training, nor first hand knowledge of Oden's injury are worth exactly what you paid for them.

This is a board totally devoted to opinions, you do get that don't ya boobie? BTW- you don't know what anyone does for a career here so attacking them personally because you don't like what they are saying is another sign maybe you don't get this whole thing as a concept.

Here's a helpful piece of advice: It's possible to give your opinion without demonstrating to all of us the depth of your ignorance.

Rather irrelevant. No credible doctor would be recommending surgery, on an injury where surgery is not always done, for someone that they haven't even examined.

So while there may be those among us with medical experience, I doubt any of them are the ones saying "How dare they not rush him off to surgery the instant they realized he was injured!"

You have a handful of posters on this board that attack other posters just to attack them, usually not even about hoops, and the mods think it's fine! Good...... so when these same posters get back a small taste of what they do to others I expect the mods to be just as absent as they always are. Fair enough?

You have a strange idea of what attacks are. Someone telling you that you're making no sense, or that you're being ignorant is not a personal attack. Posters are allowed to be critical of your opinions. They're just not allowed to call you names.

Telling someone to shut the fuck up is an insult Minstrel, would you like it done to you? Don't even begin to tell me that half the posters on this board don't troll here looking for fights rather than conversations on hoops. It's just not true.

"Shut up" isn't an insult (the obscenity is a separate matter...obscenities are allowed). It's not polite, but it's equivalent to saying "Stop posting." Someone can say it...it doesn't mean you have to listen to them. A personal attack is a negative characterization of who you are as a person.

As to whether people look for fights, I'm sure that plenty of people do. That's pretty common on discussion forums. Some people just want to chat pleasantly, some people hope to gain/provide information and some people want to argue (or arguing's more genteel cousin "debate").

If half of the board is defined by you as "trolls", maybe you are misunderstanding what a troll is.

I can find a handful of posts today that not only were personal unwarranted attacks, but totally useless to the discussion of hoops.

Congratulations.

So I can tell you and Ed O to shut the fuck up, have it nothing to do with hoops, and you're good with it? Great just making sure I understand the rules around here! Thanks!

Sure. I'd probably start tuning you out as not worth paying attention to if that's all you did, but you can if you'd like to. And you can, similarly, tune out anyone you think isn't worth your time.

You should always post with good intent. That would be my first point. You telling me and Minstrel to shut the fuck up would be intended to make a point about the rules of the board and/or insult us, rather than made with good intent.

Secondly, your opinion that Oden should have surgery DOES have to do with hoops. I don't know how you could argue that it doesn't.

BNM doesn't find your medical opinion to be an educated in the sense of medical training or an examination of Greg Oden. While you are certainly entitled to post uninformed opinions (we all do from time to time) I think that everyone knows that opinion is subject to criticism.

Actually, I do come here to have conversations about basketball. In fact, that's EXACTKLY why I come here - NOT to read the uninformed medical advice from wannabe doctors who have absolutely no clue what the hell they are talking about.

That's why I told you to shut the fuck up. I'm usually pretty tolerant. But I've had it with the "he should have had surgery from day one" crowd who know NOTHING about Oden's injury, but still think they are in a better position to make that call than the actual doctors who have examined him.

I didn't attack you personally, I attacked your ill thought out opinion. If you don't want people to tell you to shut up, stop posting about things you know nothing about. Otherwise, grow a pair and take the well deserved criticism like a man. Your post was monumentally ill informed. I called you on it, and now you're having a pity party because the big meanie told you to shut up. Get over it. If you're going to be so thin skinned, maybe YOU don't get this whole thing as a concept.

My goodness. So much drama. Has anyone here actually examined Greg Oden? Has anyone seen the results of his MRI? Guess what, even if you had, you would be forbidden by privacy laws from discussing it in a public forum without his consent.

So, let's just leave the doctoring to the doctors and let them do what their expensive med school educations, years of residence and state approved medical licenses gives them the knowledge and the right to do.

That was all I was attempting to do - admittedly in a rather brusque manner. But hey, if someone can give unsolicited medical advice online, why can't I give my unsolicited opinion of that advice? Seems perfectly fair to me.

Enough of the bitching at one another! More......

While obscenities are allowed, directing them at a fellow poster I wouldn't think would be.

You are entitled to your opinion, but so is he. Telling him not to post his opinion is crossing the line in my eyes, saying he can't post his opinion, but you can. Cussing at him just makes it worst. But of course the final word lies with the mods.
