LA gone before or on draft day

Anything with the Bulls HAVE to start with Mirotic and the CHA pick.

As far as players, they don't have much to choose from.

Butler? A welcome addition to the bench.

And.....

....

....

....

There's a lot of meh on that roster.

Deng would be for salary purposes (has 1yr left)....

Mirotic - euro MVP (youngest) & 2-time rising star winner....Has a $3mil buyout with euro club, so POR could ask for max allowed $3mil in cash...

2016 unprotected pick from CHA (likely to be pretty good)

CHI has a 2014 pick (likely in the 20's)

#20 pick this year

Butler a nice young bench type player

Maybe you could dump Freeland on them....

POR could ask for that 3M in cash, but any buyout paid over 575k comes out of Mirotic's paycheck. So you'd have to offer him a deal starting at around 2.5M a year to have him even break even in salary next year. Which dips into cap space.

I'm not saying don't do it, I'm just saying that it isn't just a matter of getting cash to pay the buyout.

Thompson and/or #19 and/or future firsts don't have potential to be impact players?.

Potentially? Yeah sure, but both also fall under the header of unlikely to ever be close to being an elite player like LA.

STOMP

Deng, Butler, #20 and Charlotte's 2014 pick owed to the Bulls....yuck, but it's out there

If Cleveland wants to trade the #1 for Deng, then yes.

Ya, I think Deng would have to be moved for something coming to Portland, as well as Mirotic being part of this deal

If Deng is moved for a pick, say 15 because it's an average pick...literally, and Chicago trades #20 for Thomas Robinson, would a package of the below be a decent haul? I think so

Thomas Robinson
Nicola Mirotic
Jimmy Butler
#15
Charlotte's pick (Top 10 2014, Top 8 2015 Unprotected 2016)

I have not seen enough of Robinson or Mirotic. If you can get Robinson for #20, you do not trade an All Star for him.

I start to feel "ok" with that but to its 100% based upon what Mirotic will be. Because otherwise you are just filling your bench

I am 100% on board with waiting until some player from another team wants out or some other team get desperate to move a player they cant afford or something. Im with others that are willing to wait until it is a sure thing. I want a Paul George type player back. Young, up and coming.

So let's say with #'s 10 and #15 you select Steven Adams and Sergei or Alexi or Vlad or whatever his first name Karasev. You have A LOT of cap space (somewhere around 20 million)

Lillard / Maynor
Matthews / Barton
Batum / Butler / Karasev
Milsap? / Robinson / Mirotic
Jefferson? / Adams / Leonard

A high draft pick in next years talent laden draft as well as Charlotte's pick at some point.

I just really struggle to see the Bulls moving Noah for Aldridge. Not to argue better or worse. But then what's the strategy? Play like Miami, with LMA at C? He's already whined about that. They'd be paying him, Boozer and Gibson a LOT of money.
I love Noah, personally. Have since that draft, and nothing has changed. Love the way he plays. I just struggle to see a deal there.
Contingent on Dwight going to HOU, we can possibly pull a three way with the Rockets and Bulls.

Aldridge, Asik to CHI
Noah, Butler, TRob, CHA pick to POR
Kostas, #20 to HOU

Since the #3 and #1 have the same value to me (someone will draft Noel and just want either Olapido or Len), how about a deal with Washington

LA and Freeland

for

#3, Okafor, Seraphin, and Vesely

Yuck, rather have the initial Cle offer of #1 and #19 and then we have a lot more capspace, vesely/seraphin have shown nothing and Okafor why bother. Rather have the cap and flexibility for more trades and FA

If a S&T is open, I'd look at ATL for Josh Smith + future assets. Then Big Al in free agency. Those two would complement each other well.

I have not included Beal in my deals as I think they would not move him. I also think cap space this offseason will be less valuable since many teams have it. Seraphin is not a bad player and Vesely would be a gamble. Do not think Washington would agree to the trade without shedding Okafor. He is only under contract for one year and would be the perfect driver of the 2013-14 tank.

Could Batum get Okafor/3? If Leonard were included?

it would take beal imo, so #3+++ (-beal) is a non starter

.@CSNNW Source: #Blazers F LaMarcus Aldridge prefers to be moved to contender but not oppose to return to Portland http://www.csnnw.com/blog/blazers-t...moved-contender-not-oppose-returning-portland

The day of the NBA Draft is finally upon us.

It's an important day for many teams and especially for the Portland Trail Blazers, it's a day in which a couple more assets will be brought on board in hopes of those chips inching the Trail Blazers one step closer to becoming a contender in the Western Conference.

Wherever and whoever the Trail Blazers select today, this draft should direct them towards that path.

But in Portland, the draft is being overshadowed by the rumors surrounding two-time All-Star LaMarcus Aldridge and his desire to play elsewhere next season.

Does Aldridge want out of Portland? Yes and no, a source close to the 6-10 forward informed CSNNW.com.

If Portland doesn't have plans to drastically improve its roster in time for the 2013-14 NBA season, Aldridge would prefer to be moved, and his first choice would be Chicago, the source said.

Trail Blazers general manager Neil Olshey and Aldridge's representatives met in Chicago last month during NBA Summer League to discuss the possibilities of moving the power forward, CSNNW.com learned.

Aldridge has always envisioned what his career might have been like if Chicago, the team that drafted him in 2006, actually kept him instead of trading with Portland for Tyrus Thomas.

It's no secret to why Aldridge has had some of his best performances at the United Center.

“I still have something to prove when I play in Chicago. I just love to play there,” Aldridge told CSNNW.com in March. “Whenever I go back, I want them to know what they are missing out on. To this day, I still take it personal. I hope they know now which power forward they should have held on to.”

The source also said Aldridge wouldn't mind being dealt to the Dallas Mavericks to play in his hometown with the rising belief Dallas has a shot at Dwight Howard. Or to the Los Angeles Clippers, if a scenario such as that makes sense for the Clippers.

However, if Portland doesn't make the necessary adjustments Aldridge sees fit, he will come back to Portland and fulfill his contractual obligation and he won't be a problem, the source said.

"LaMarcus loves Portland," said the source. "He spent seven years there and grew as a man. Him going back is a possibility and he knows that. He's a professional, it wouldn't be an issue."

The truth of the matter is, Aldridge who is approaching 28, probably has three, maybe four years of prime basketball left in his system and if the choice were primarily up to him, he would prefer to spend those years playing for a contender.

Aldridge has two-years at roughly $30 million remaining on his current deal. Olshey has the luxury of waiting for the right deal to come along. This could take a while, if anything at all.

Doesn't make much sense to me. He resents Chicago, but wants to go there?

The only way I have any interest in Smith is if we were to trade LMA for Noah (which I agree, wouldn't make sense from CHI's perspective). But with Noah/Smith/Batum in the front court, along with Wes and hopefully a defensively improved Lillard in the back court we'd have great defensive personnel. Then the next step is to go out and obtain a defensive assistant coach to be the architect of our defense.

I think a Smith/Noah PF/C combo is good but their skills are awfully similar. Good D, rim protection, and rebounding. Whereas add Big Al to either of those guys, and you've added terrific low post scoring too. It just sucks that LA is being an ass about this, because he can be the perfect mix of all of these skills if he wanted to.

That story by @ChrisBHaynes sums up what I believe is Aldridge's stance: improve the team or trade me. Seems like a reasonable request.

. @TylerLuna11 Zeller on the chance IF Aldridge is gone by the end of the night and as I told @MikeintheCouv my gut says LA remains 2nite

That's what LMA said after the season. Hell, he even basically said that next year could be bumpy, too, but that he thinks they have a chance to contend in 2014-15. Yet people want to trade him for role players to "get young".
