Lamarcus Aldridge probably WILL NOT sign extension with Portland.

I have always thought that Lamarcus would always go home to play in Dallas. With them likely to lose Dirk to free agency, this seems
more and more likely. This should be Oshey's biggest concern over the off season, to at least find out what Lamarcus wants to do.

Is there any chance we don't offer him a max deal next summer? $127 million is a hell of a lot of money to lock up on your cap for half a decade. Our season just ended with Splitter outplaying LaMarcus in four of five games. LaMarcus has already started to lose athleticism from his younger years and every season going forward he will likely lose a bit more.

I'd rather see the team sign him to the max deal now as its only 3 more years. Players like Amare, Rashard Lewis, Raef LaFrentz, Steve Francis didn't seem terribly overpaid the day they inked their final big contracts but by the end those are the type of contracts that prevent a team from having any chance of contending.

Oshey won't put up with Lamarcus's drama play. He's spent years on One Life To Live and Cable TV Shows. He knows all sorts of bad drama.

I know. So time for the Blazers to really listen and do whats best for the team.

Thanks for pointing that out! Someone please forward this post to Neil Olshey. Some needs to tell him he's supposed to be doing what's BEST for the team. God, if only he'd known that sooner we could have traded Aldridge for Asik and table scraps.

Which Maverick, Spur, or Rocket will we get for Tex Aldridge, as they will nickname him.

LaMarcus and Carmelo are pretty similar players in that they live a lot by the mid range jumper. Carmelo is thought of as a volume shooter, but he's actually much more efficient than LA, he not only shoots a higher percentage from 2pt range, but his 40% 3pt shot puts him well over LMA.

And neither are really defensive presences.

You know why they need to get rid of Lamarcus. Too many fade aways!

I like PFs in the Buck Williams mold. LaMarcus is very over-rated by posters here, just look at his shooting percentage. He has great games every once in awhile, but overall he's just not that good. He's tall, and has a shot he can get off anytime he wants to, so the Blazers force feed him that shot and he scores based on that volume of shots. All other facets of his game are mediocre at best.

What are you talking about, he's one of the best forwards in the game. The problem is he's more a tweener than a power forward. He gets his points on mid range jumpers and fadeaways rather than inside and his rebounding/defense suffer as well. It is a big hole other teams take advantage off. Look at what the Spurs were able to do with that tool Splitter. He needs to pull his weight inside.

Lol, did anyone see what Screamin' A. Smith said about LMA?

I linked to a Realgm page talking about it because i don't think he needs our views, and the idea of getting back anything on the Knicks without at least getting Melo for him is completely insulting, even if you did just make it up.

I can't even fathom a trade with New York that doesn't involve Melo.

Nor can I fathom one that does. I can't magine trading the best player on a team that won 54 games and made it to the second round in the Western Conference for the best player on a team that won 37 games and missed the playoffs in the East.

Melo is an offense killing black hole. He's had a USG% >30 for nine seasons is a row. He has the 5th highest career USG% in the entire history of the NBA. Does anyone, well other than Melo, REALLY think Carmelo Anthony is one of the 5 best players in the history of the league? He jacks up shots like he thinks he is. People who like Carmelo Anthony are impressed by his scoring average, but don't understand how his selfish play hurts his team. No thanks, I don't want to EVER see this guy in a Blazers uniform.

That wasn't my point.

Kevin Durant's career USG% is 30.5 for 7 seasons. His 33% led the league this season.

Good enough to be MVP.

Anthony was top 15 in the MVP voting, which is probably right. He may be the 3rd best offensive player in the game, behind LeBron and Durant.

I'm still all about trading LA, but the Knicks have nothing

You trade him if the right deal comes along but it wont be for draft picks and a budding asset.
I think we will end up keeping LA at 5 years around 110m.

Yes he did. He averaged 32.0 ppg on 33.0 USG% with .503 FG%, a TS% of .635 and a PER = 29.8. Those are definitely MVP numbers.

Compare them to Anthony:

27.4 ppg on 32.4 USG%, .452 FG%, .561 TS% and PER = 24.4. Anthony's numbers were significantly lower than Durant's in all cases EXCEPT USG%.

Durant deserved his 33.0 USG%, Melo, not so much.

If you only include scoring in your ranking of best offensive players, but if you include total offense and efficiency, I'd definitely rank Steph Curry and his 24.0 ppg/8.5 apg on .610 TS% and 28.3 USG% ahead of Anthony. As much as I hate his flopping, James Harden is also a more efficient scorer than Anthony. And, again if you consider total offensive game, not just scoring, I'd rank Chris Paul ahead of Anthony. Paul may have only averaged 19.1 ppg, but he's a more efficient scorer than Anthony and contributes 10.7 apg. Paul makes his teammates better, and therefore, has more of a positive impact on his team than Anthony does. Paul had a higher PER (25.9 vs. 24.4) than Anthony, but a MUCH lower USG% (23.7 vs. 32.4). There's more to offense than individual scoring.
