Horrible news. I feel so bad for Lanny and his family.

Also, I have to admit I have officially gone from concerned to scared over Sept 10th. That is when I find out if I am getting stents in my heart, or if they have to crack my chest, or .......

Sorry, I know this isn't the time - just had a brief "oh shit!" moment.

Good luck man....I'm six years past my heart failure disaster ....proof you can recover!

Just talked to Lanny. His regular doctor came to see him, looked over the same information, and says 6 months.

This is great news!

I'm sorry if this feels like an emotional roller coaster to some of you but I'm attributing this to all of your warm and caring posts.

I'm going to apply the 2.5 factor....whatever you think will happen, multiply it by 2.5....that means Lanny will have at minimum 15 months!

You don't have to apologize. Thank you for keeping us updated. That's really great news and hopefully they get him home soon. Maybe Lanny will be on here soon so he can see how much he means to all of us.

Dude, that's awesome!

Always always always get multiple opinions. It is scary how big of assholes and/or incompetent doctors can be.

I am so happy it went from a month to 6 months!! Means something positive changed and more positive could happen! Let's go!

Wonder if we could let Dame know somehow and use it for fuel to propel us to a championship?! Win that championship of fate!

This is great news but man, I wish that kind of things did not happen and I feel like it does way too often. Lanny in his condition did not need the immense additionnal stress of being told he had 2-4 weeks to live if it isn't true. Obviously being told 6 month right away would have been terrible news too, but I feel like it leaves him much more time to get his mind were it needs to be.

Last time I was in the hospital, I had an MRI and they told me I had pulmonary embolism. This was very stressful, I texted my mom who was worried sick, just for another doctor to come in after a few hours and tell me sike you don't have anything.
Serious health matters need to be handled seriously.

Wow getting all caught up on this thread, sorry to hear what’s going on with you Lanny. Stay strong man, you’re one of the Blazer fan OG’s and have been through a lot. Hope nothing but the best for you!

That's better than 2 weeks. Still, devastating, but it gives you hope.

Gonna keep you in our thoughts as well man.

This is a great community to be honest. I’m thankful to have been around socializing with you guys (and gals) for almost 10 years here now. We’ve had our differences… We’ve got our similarities, and it’s nice to see that 99/100 we all put those similarities first. Blazer basketball, sports, photography, music and movies, current events, etc…

We’ve been fortunate enough to have a handful of opportunities to get together and meet each other in person. Every time I’ve taken part in that it’s been a great experience. At blazer games/events. Getting together and shooting hoops during the off-season/watching the forum literally become the champions of the Rip City 3 on 3 a few years back.

HCP says “FAMS” and I think that’s legit, because what we’ve got on here with each other is more than just careless communication.

Hope all goes well for you, Lanny, and everyone else here regardless of what they are going through in life.

Positive vibes. Here's to your good health.

Lanny- hope you recover and get back to the Rose Garden!
Ain't a gonna happen. It's a type carotid atherosclerosis that's caused by calcification of the carotid artery plus a failing aortic heart valve. The heart valve can be fixed but in my case it would almost certainly be fatal on the operating table. They operated and opened up the valve opening but it didn't help. The calcification is progressing as is the heart valve failure. If one doesn't get me the other one will. They're both fatal.
My most optimistic prognosis is one year. One doctor said he's surprised that I'm still alive. By this time next year I'll be a fading memory.

A memory but not fading. Good to see you. Well, I can't see you but you get it.
Thank you but I' afraid that except for my dear dear sweet wife it's true. She will be devastated. Imagine her nightmare when she spends that first night alone in our dream house after my funeral.

I know you don't know me but back in the OLive days of the early aughts I learned to think of you as the ultimate Blazers fan. I hope the next year or even hopefully more is really good to you and you can catch our Blazers play to another unlikely title that they can dedicate to you or at least fans like you. Stay comfortable sir and in the presence of loved ones. Glad you're still with us.

That's really rough, I can't even imagine. Give her and yourself as many memories as possible between now and when she has to spend her first night without you.

Hope you find some comfort day to day Lanny...just like Dame always says...there's another game tomorrow! Hopefully you'll send it into quadruple overtime!

So sorry to hear that Lanny. Hopefully, you beat the prognosis. You are a hell of a good man and I'm better for having known you on here. I sure as hell won't forget you.
