My bet is he is going going back back to Cali Cali (Lakers)I was thinking about this and I think just about the best acquisition we can get in the free agent market is Rajon Rondo. Him alongside Simons, Little and Nance would be super exciting in the second unit. He'd get the best out of the young guys and teach them how to play the right way. The athleticism is off the charts. Just need someone to bring it out of them. Can't think of a better guy than Rondo.
Because Olshey forget to trade for Larry Nance Sr and Larry Nance III.People wanted Nance. We traded DJJ and a protected first getting into the Markkanen deal to land him. And yet there's no thread here about it.
How does that happen?
Obviously I like this deal but I’m still struggling to see how this raises our ceiling. Our floor for sure, but ceiling?
When will the first thread be created complaining that we are last in the league in bench points?
A big defensive plus at "positions" of need on a team that was horrific at D last yr with a new coach who emphasizes D, and his flexibility to play the 4/5 positions as a small ball C, good pick n roll player, good screen setter, how can this not raise our ceiling somewhat? not sayin a huge game changer but Zeller/Nance certainly an improvement IMO over Kanter/MeloObviously I like this deal but I’m still struggling to see how this raises our ceiling. Our floor for sure, but ceiling?
I do not! err.... I mean maybe he does maybe he doesn't?Neil 100% reads this forum
The problem is that we don't know how much time we have to prove to Dame we're a contender. Is it the trade deadline? Is it until next offseason? Is it longer? Shorter? We don't know.
Takes some luck to win the championship.me. We stay fully healthy. Jokic goes down. Lakers need a wheel chair. Etc etc
I think if everything pans out( not a good percentage of that happening, but that kinda goes for all teams) we are a top for in the west. With a bit of luck during the season we could be top two to three.
Usually starts 3-7 games into the season. Always begins with- "I know it's a small sample size BUT........"When will the first thread be created complaining that we are last in the league in bench points?
He’s not on my ignore list. He’s a great guy, great poster, I look forward to his input almost as much as Mrs HCP looks forward to my “input”I thought maybe that H3P guy posted it and I couldn't see it because he's on everyone's ignore list.
Amazing post, thanks. Here is some perspective and additional info from a Cleveland journalist:
"It’s incredibly risky. When healthy, Nance lifts Cleveland’s floor. He’s one of their most productive players -- a multi-positional plus-defender with an improving shooting stroke. He’s better equipped to help the Cavs win in the short term.
Nance, a team leader and culture piece on a bargain contract, was one of their few reliable veterans. Acquired midway through the 2017-18 season from Los Angeles, he quickly ingratiated himself to the organization, fan base and community. His meaning -- on and off the court -- can’t be undersold and it goes beyond the emotional aspect. It’s why so many suitors pestered general manager Koby Altman for the last year-plus about a trade, with the Cavs rebuffing many of those offers, including one at the trade deadline that had multiple late first-rounders.
But everything changed on July 29. The Cavs drafted Evan Mobley with the No. 3 pick. Mobley, the most important player in Cleveland’s potential renaissance, is likely to start at power forward this season and the organization is deeply committed to his on-court development. Not only does he bring many of Nance’s best traits but it creates a logjam in the frontcourt."

Interesting. Did Olshey getting outbid save us again? I think Nance will be a lot more useful to us if he stays healthy.
So Chicago has used 3 FRP's to acquire Vucevic and Derozan, and we have used 3 to acquire Nance and Covington.
Let it also be known that ours and Chicago's three first-round picks aren't equivalent. They gave up #8 last year (not to mention Wendell Carter, who is still an intriguing piece). So Chicago has used 3 FRP's to acquire Vucevic and Derozan, and we have used 3 to acquire Nance and Covington.
Seems legit.
This means CJ is staying and we're not going after Simmons.
Wish our starting lineup would be
Dame
Norm
RoCo
Nance
Nurk
With Billups defensive IQ we’d have a good chance to be elite on defense. And then have CJ come off the bench as a firecracker sixth man… oh that would be interesting.
Either way this season just got a lot more exciting.
To anyone complaining about giving up first rounders, what does it matter? We’re trying to keep Dame happy now. If he leaves, we’ll receive an excess share of quality non-protected first rounders back. We’d also be able to grab a ton more shipping out the rest of the team if we’re going full rebuild.
