Welcome to our community

Be a part of something great, join today!

This is how I see our depth chart currently

PG
1. Dame
2. CJ
3. Ant

SG
1. CJ
2. Norm
3. McLemore

SF
1. Norm
2. Nas
3. Snell

PF
1. Roco
2. Nance
3. Nas

C
1. Nurkic
2. Nance
3. Zeller

Deep bench: Brown, Elleby

Two way: Watford

We still need to sign one more player, and also have a two way open.

I'm guessing with this Nance signing the chances of seeing LMA in a Blazer uniform again are next to none. I think I'm ok with that. I'd rather see a solid backup PG signed before another 4 right now anyway.

Really nice move. I'm a fan of Nance and I think he'll help the Blazers immensely.

Plus, we still maintain a Jr. on the roster. That's not as big of an asset as it once was when Jordan Kent felt the need to include on every play call that included GTJ. and DJJ, but still...

I think there is a good argument for starting both Nance and RoCo.Screen Shot 2021-08-27 at 10.37.53 AM.png

Whether Nance starts in place of CJ, Norm or Nurk is to be debated...

I don't think he will start but who knows what the roster looks like at the end of the season.

Chauncey benching CJ would be a baller power move.

2nd unit went from featuring Melo and EK to Nance and Zeller. That's an upgrade for sure (and I appreciated what both Melo and EK did - or at least, tried to do).

gut feeling, i think CJ is due for a career year, no way he gets benched. If anyone, I think it might be Norm- but enough minutes to go around for everyone regardless if they start/come off the bench. This trade allows Nurk/Roco to be very aggressive on D and it won't be much of a drop off if either gets into foul trouble.

All of this is dependent on good health.

As a small market team with a GM too inept to make big trades, why in the hell do we give up all our 1st round picks

Nance has always been underwhelming to me. But I guess a decent guy to have on the bench

At this point in time, draft picks are expendable. Like it or not, the team is in "Win Now" mode to keep their superstar happy. Olshey at least seems to be listening to Billups about shoring up the defense.

As I've said before, this Blazer team has pieces that, given no injuries and other factors in their favor, could jell into something greater than the sum of their parts and make at least a WCF bid.

How could this be? I was told Olshey was finished with making moves? Are the same people who wanted this move giving credit to Olshey for it now?

He's still dancing around the edge of the issue. Adding Nance is great, but he doesn't make us a contender. Not in the way that Dame wants. Neil is still convinced that Dame/CJ is a winning combo. I do not agree. Neil seems to only be capable of making fringe trades. Never going for the home run.

Because the Blazers are tryin to win now, not in 3-5 years when a rookie outside of the lottery range would be expected to be able to possibly contribute.

It kind of got me thinking... would this be the precipice needed for Cleveland to waive Kevin Love and the Blazers to pick up him up on a league min? He'd be a solid backup at 4 or 5 once he gets back into playing shape. Not many players have openly opined to play in Portland and I for one would love to see him in a Blazers jersey when he retires. Plus, I read that Love and Nance are friends.
Cleveland is now paying around $75 million for 4 bigs so I'd say that its its a fairly safe bet that Love will be bought out.
Love - $31 million
Allen - $20 million
Lauri - $16 million
Mobley - $8 million

Agree that it's not the home run we wanted but under a different coach, I can see how it MIGHT work with Dame/CJ/Powell. Philly hasn't moved Simmons and Toronto hasn't moved Siakam so there's still hope.

Should mention that the 1st being protected prevents us from including any future firsts in other (*cough* CJ *cough*) deals, excepting "first available" language, which also makes pick-swap inclusion incredibly difficult.
Good, then Toronto or Philly know better than to even ask for picks!
