Two things I hate in forums... the person who starts a thread "My take on ________"; and the passive aggressive "I'm taking a break/I'm leaving the forum" thread. Nothing screams "I WANT ATTENTION" more than these threads. If you have something to say - just say it. Do you really have to announce the soapbox is there? Just fucking step on it and say what you have to say.

The bickering and sniping and other usual crapfest that occurs on this site is unfortunate. It would be better if we supported and expressed ideas and thoughts about the Blazers - both good and bad - and had the maturity to discuss ideas/thoughts.

Aren't you taking this thread personally? I like Stevenson and understand his need to take a break...I get to say adios to a member here that I've enjoyed having participate in the forum. This thread doesn't make this place look bad...there are always those threads around here. I don't think saying "See you later" on a thread comes close to some really offensive threads that have been posted around here.

Agree. I enjoy Stevenson's takes on basketball and occasionally in the OT forum.

Sometimes threads like these can bring about good discussion points. It is a community after all.

Ive been around with you fellows for 15 years, during that time ive learned to get thick skin. Yes, sometimes i can get butthurt like most, but this community is like family. When i get in a heated argument with one of you, if i saw you in person id have a beer or soda with you and act like nothing happened. Why? I've been a member almost a year now and spent a fair amount of lurking before signing up. Last year at this time I recall this being pretty much an intellectual wasteland with Portland's season over and the draft and free agency still to come. Based on the amount of hurt feelings and cranky sniping at each other I saw at that time, I came close to walking away without becoming a part of the forum. But as soon as the draft and free agency became more tangible, the whole attitude (and behavior) of the board started to change. Moods improved, folks became more civil and discussions/arguments became a great deal more reasonable and respectful. Face it, in general we're bored shitless right now. Endless trade and draft scenarios that will likely never happen, salary projections, etc get old. We want meat on the bone. We want actual trades and player signings. We want facts, not pipe dreams. We want to hear new and fresh information, not the same old regurgitated tripe. It makes us assholes with each other. This is a great time to take a break if someone needs one. So.....clear your head Stevenson. Enjoy some time away from this place. But I for one hope to see you back before next season tips off. You bring good stuff to the table.....

Exactly. Me and HCP go at it a lot, but I think we'd get along just fine in person (if not I'd just whoop that ass).

It's the internet. It's easier to say shit, it's a less human-like interaction, and it's harder to understand tone of voice. That's why I try not to get too worked up emotionally over anything on here. I may call someone's post out once in a while, but it's their internet post, not their character or anything meaningful in the grand scheme of things.

If only was the world was more like that. One negative thing is said when someone having a bad day or one misunderstanding occurs and friends turn to foes, relationships break, and drama happens.

Society is unforgiving and fragile. That's why I hope that these traits don't continue creep their way into the board.
