OT LaVar is costing his son MILLIONS of dollars

OK, just read the story and it's still stupid. So he told his dad to "whoop his ass" wrestler style. You ever been to a WWE? There are WAAAAAAY more offensive things said.

This wasn't even offensive. Nor should it be taken as such. This really is kinda stupid that they would have to release a statement about it at all IMO.

I don't see that happening. ESPN is the only one who talks about him, and they don't do that stuff. Maybe a 30 for 30 if Lonzo becomes a star.
ESPN is dying. Next up: Reality TV shows.

Lavar seems like an exaggerated racial stereotype that found a time machine in the mid-1990s and traveled to the present. I mean he's entertaining to look at, but not really in an "empowering" way.

I watch the Ball's on the WWE last night and it was for composer that was it but it was kind of funny especially when Lavar took off his shirt talking smack. But what I seen they need to change there name to little balls. Lavar look flabby and skin hanging down from his arms and his kids there really skinny and need to get in the weight room.

For sure. I wouldn't use that comment in a room of rednecks though. And again, do you think it's odd that WWE is maybe making a bigger deal than it was? Like to throw the Balls under a bus? Or just WWE covering their asses? And if someone had assumed LaMelo was telling the wrestler to beat his dad's ass (instead of assuming he was calling the white wrestler the "n" word) does that make someone any more or less racist?

By the way, is that wrestler the dude from all those MTV Real World/Road Rules Challene shows?

This really is a non argument. Black folk can use the word. White folk can't. The minute y'all accept this, we won't have to talk about it anymore.
1. Lamelo is white.

2. White people invented that word. So black people using it, is cultural appropriation (I know how much you dislike cultural appropriation).

3. If you want to have different rules for different skin colors, then let's go back to Jim Crow: You can't pick and choose how much equality you want. Either we're all equals, or we're not.

He tries so hard to be black. *edited*

The rule is pretty absolute. Not sure why people who aren't black want to say it tbh. But you're right, maybe don't say that in front of a room of WWErs.
He can call his dad the A version, something I would not allow my son to do, but hey, maybe they have a different relationship. I joke all the time with my son and that word but he doesn't use it. :dunno:

I'm glad I have you on ignore. Ignore is the root word for ignorance.

I'm glad you care enough to check and see what I say. You can't deny anything that I say.

You probably put me on ignore when I said that Africa started the slave trade by selling their slaves to European traders. Something else you can't deny. But I'm white. So fuck everything I have to say right?

Jesus... Why is this thread still going.....?

Lavar Ball raised a kid who just earned a 1/1,000,000 chance to live his dream. I hope to do the same.

Like any thread, was just trying to have an intelligent conversation (and I have no interest in using the n words and I have a couple black friends who don't care if I did in front of them and have called me the word - that was never the intent of my questions for you).

And like any thread, my bad for remembering anything honest or serious would end as an intelligent convo with these S2 goons.

I have a feeling it's just getting started. I don't think Lavar is done being Lavar. He's building his brand. Really it's not about his son at all. I don't see anything wrong with Lonzo. Seems like a quiet kid who just wants to play. This is really about the parent of a star athlete, and it's really an interesting subject because I can't think of another parent who has maybe become more famous than his athlete son.

tbh, I don't like him because he's a laker fan. If he wasn't, I'd probably be buying BBB shirts and shit.

Ever meet Stan Love Kevin's dad? Yeah Real piece of crap person. Completely opposite of Kevin. He once took a snow/leafblower and blew gravel at cars that were parked on the street by their house. Yet we have a whole thread about a loudmouth. I realize it's low hanging fruit but most times that low hanging fruit is over ripe and useless. Like this discussion is... But hey, loud mouth black guy, let's crucify him. He doesn't give a fuck what any of us think so why fixate on....

A FUCKING LAKER.... HE'S A GODDAMN LAKER.... HE WAS BORN IN LA... WENT TO UCLA...

Yeah, this is OT section material IMO.

I have definitely heard of Stan Love, but I have never seen him talk. I don't even know what he looks like. He has a reputation, but I don't think he's the attention seeker that Lavar is.

Exactly. I think Lonzo will be pretty good. I like his game. But I certainly am not rooting for him to be a star for the simple fact he is now the face of Laker nation. (Per Magic) Lavar would still annoy me regardless, but I would not give him a second thought if he was in Philly.

I loved watching their first of three straight #2 picks (D'Angelo Russell) "disappoint" but now I hope he turns out to be a star. Just to irritate the Laker faithful.

Not sure why it is hard for people to understand that Laker hatred is real and much deserved. Probably because they have been so shitty for the last 4-5 years, but 40 years of history is hard to forget for some of us.

Seriously? Race has nothing to do with this.

Well, the laker fans are just total fucking dicks and Lavar just seems like a prototypical laker fan.

Say what you want but the truth of the matter is that society doesn't like outspoken black people.

Are you honestly going to tell homer Blazer fans that we would have a long negative thread about Lavar if he wanted his son to only be drafted by the Blazers and no one else? And then was?

Seriously think about the makeup of most Blazer fans before answering that question. We would all be defending him left and right....as long as Lonzo played well at least.
