Lester meeting with Giants

im all for it, the giants have a shitload of money coming off the books after next year (lincecum, huddy, affeldt, casilla, the desiccated husk of marco scutaro) and can afford some long term money. i would really like sf to jump up into the top 4 with the yanks, sox, and dodgers in terms of payroll, 3 WS wins in 5 years has im sure filled the coffers or the rainy day fund as they like to call it.

i would offer

lester 6-140
yasmany tomas 4-50
chase headley 4-60
yoan moncada 7-40 (and blow our international bonus pool, signing everyone we can)

next year when all that other money comes off the books, plug in some younger types and stopgaps, the farm looks decent right now

I'm all for Lester & even okay with Headley though not for 15M per. But who is this Tomas that we're throwing all this money at? & same for Moncada. I'm not familiar with these two players.
 
I want the Yankees to get Montana really bad and I would be all for trading Gardner and getting Tomas but I know that will not happen.
 
Fuck, although the dbacks gave up a lot with the player option.

Moncada is the latest Cuban prospect du jour, 19 years old, ++scouting grades, my personal white whale
 
I wish someone would sign him, getting tired of hearing his name. Seemed like every 2 minutes on MLB the question what about Lester was prompted. Dam MLB get over it and maintain coverage after he is signed.
 
^^^I think they are focussing on Lester because the thinking is that he will be the first of "the big 3" pitchers to sign...and after that, the other "dominos" will then fall.

I agree, after Lester you'll see Scherzer & Shields go shortly there after.

...Lester has not committed to anyone yet, one way or the other.

...he's already said that his decision will not be purely based on the best offer.
