Well then you aren't very good at reading.

Topic: Nate McDillon :fail:

Response: Right, that's why he was an assistant coach on the Olympic team.

Jog on Katie.

As I said. You have trouble with logic.

21 of the 80 are mine.

So far you've proved yourself to be a poor reader and counter.

Are you blind or something?

(Thoughts and prayers)

Hell, I was just kidding. There is no nuance or ambiguity in your OP, so there really is no point debating you on the subject. That you've actually posted that many times in this thread is hilarious! :lol:

No. It's a cry about the finicky nature of Porsches.

As somebody who has owned Porsches in the past, I think you are spot on. Awesome fun when they run right, annoying (and expensive) as fuck when they inevitably break down. This current team is a Porsche in both senses.

Never owned one (but have been tempted, for sure). I know the experience as well, as I tend to run vintage Alfa Romeos and Loti (which are much worse, at least the Loti).

This is in regards to me saying that a couple months ago that Nate hasn't made any of the young nucleus players better from last year to this. In fact they are worse.

I was told up and down I had it wrong and that the Jesus Machine (PER) tells us Bayless is fucking awesome and Batum is Scottie Pippen's DNA equal.

So let's review now shall we?

Players this year Vs. Last year:

LMA = worse
Batum = better
Bayless = worse
Rudy = worse
Roy = worse
Webster = worse (Than 2 years ago)

:lol:

I read his point as being that McMillan is well-respected in the basketball community, versus not being well-respected in this cyber-cage full of anonymous, screaming chimpanzees.

You aren't very good at logic, as I said. ;)

Game set match. It was my post, and your take is correct. OddEnormous does not understand logic, as you said.

The point indeed is that if the Powers That Be in basketball see fit to put Nate on the Olympic team, and if they also see him as COTY, and since they do basketball for a living, Nate is, ipso facto, a very good coach.

Nate is, ipso facto, a very good coach.

So you're saying he's a very good coach because he's the US assistant and he's in the the running for COTY?

Be very careful now, because I'm going to ask you to point out where my logic failed me. Because that's exactly what I said you were saying.

I'm enjoying this thread. So, in that sense, not a fail.

I agree, I have to take my original stance back. The idea of Nate being a bad coach is a fail, but the thread is a success.

Plus, the longer this goes, the more the shock jock is exposed, and that's always a good thing.

Woah, you're using facts, something you are against others using. This must be a trick!

Division finishes are the PER of the washed masses! Even David Stern continues to change the conferences and divisions trying to tweak them and finally get it right!

Nate is a mechanic. He's expert at making a piece of crap purr on the freeway at 45 mph. But give him the key to a fine car already in great shape, and he'll drive it like something he salvaged from the junkyard--steady and slow, with lots of discipline that he thinks it requires.

Up to about .550 he is just what we needed. But no matter how fast our ponies become, Nate will continue to hold the reins to 2nd gear.

To carry the analogy a bit further.

Ever been on a long car trip with little kids?

"Dad - he's looking at me!"

"Dad - he's touching me!"

"DAD!!!!"

Sometimes, you need more than a mechanic.....you need someone to keep the rugrats in line. Roy's childish reaction to Miller and Oden needed a firm hand - and Nate didn't seem to be supplying it.

So now Nate needs to be MORE "Sarge". :lol:

You people need to get your criticisms straight.

I can see oldmangrouch trying to be a "firm hand" to Roy.

oldmangrouch: Brandon, stop being a baby about Miller and Oden.

Roy: Fuck you, oldmangrouch. I'm a two-time All-Star and just signed a max extension, and you're on a year-to-year contract. Plus, the only reason you're still coaching here is because of me winning games for you.

oldmangrouch: Brandon, change your attitude, or I'm going to bench you.

Roy: Go fuck yourself. Fuck you.

oldmangrouch's door: <knock knock>

Larry Miller: oldmangrouch, I'd like to see you in my office. It appears we have some "philosophical differences".

In other words, Roy doesn't respect Nate and doesn't listen to him. You don't see that as a problem?

Where did I type "Nate"?

I'm guessing Roy respects Nate in part because he doesn't treat them like children, which you suggested in your "firm-handed Daddy" post. I used you as the coach since you seem to think the coach needs to put the players in their place, and I think that a coach who tried the "firm-handed Daddy" approach wouldn't be long for any team, let alone a playoff team.

How long have you been watching the NBA? :lol:

If everyone trusted in TPTB unquestionably, basketball or not, then we'd all be in a lot of trouble.

From what I can understand, McHale doesn't have much interest in coaching; he was pretty clear about not liking the travel and only took over the interim coaching gig in Minny after much coaxing.

When McHale was down to being Minny coach after his GM stint was over, the owner said (I think at the end of the season) that he wouldn't be brought back as coach. McHale was disappointed and made it clear that he thought this would hurt the team. He thought he had a lot to offer as coach. He wanted to continue as Minny coach.

He grew up there, so I don't know whether his wanting to coach there translates to wanting to coach anywhere else. But he's not making much money in his little part-time media job, and Paul Allen can overpay coaches, and he'd be starting with a .600 team....he couldn't do any better, so I think he'd try it here if offered.

Anyway, we need a more uptempo team. Maybe that can be fixed by forcing McMillan to accept a strong assistant coach who will take care of it. Or maybe it means that someone like McHale would replace him. (I don't expect any change, and we'll just float around .700 even if Oden is healthy, never winning a championship.)
