Letter from LaMarcus Aldridge to Rip City

Dear Rip City, Thank you!

I would like to take this time to thank you for supporting me and my teammates through my 9 years in Portland. When I was drafted with Brandon Roy, we had high hopes for us. And then the next year we drafted what we hoped was the final piece to our championship dreams. But as you know, those dreams were squashed. First Greg never was able to live up to his potential and then Brandon had to retire early. But through all that, you fans stuck with us, even in times when it would've been easier for you to jump ship.

I'm sorry that we couldn't deliver on those championship aspirations, but rest assured you can believe that we tried our best. But in the end, things did not work out as well as we wanted, and I felt it was time for me to venture off on my own. That doesn't mean I didn't enjoy my time in Portland, or appreciate you fans for cheering for us on nights when sometimes we didn't deserve it. I do. It was those cheers that helped us through some dark times in Portland, and even win some games.

So while I am now moving on to another city and franchise, I want you to know that I understand that some of you might be upset with my choice, or how I went about making this choice. I am sorry if you were upset by my actions, but I felt it was necessary for me to do it. There might come a time in my life where I look back and wish I did it differently, but I cannot change what I have done.

I know that Portland, Rip City, and you Blazer fans will live on. I am not bigger than Rip City.

LaMarcus

PS. Yes I am jealous of Damian and the fact that he's actually a superstar and I'm a softy.

THIS COMPLETELY FAKE letter made me tear up a bit.

I imagined Lamarcus reading this and I low key got the feels, then I remembered that it wasn't real. Good job. Really puts into perspective just how pathetic his actual letter is. :blahblah:

I didn't think this thread would turn into a roast..I was happy to see him give Portland some love and respect his effort. Of all the threads that are pretty much devoted to bashing the guy..can we have this one civil thread about the guy?

Don't be so naive. I'm almost 100% sure he didn't even write it.

That might happen in a few years. Not today. Not the 4th of July in which he decides to announce his decision. Let people vent and get it out of their system.

Sure, after he retires never winning a title, and Damian is celebrating his 3rd straight title.

I think it's bullshit to keep assuming what he thinks, says or does are some conspiracy theory or deep seated jealous tantrum. I've been reading these rants for a week and the guy wastes no time thanking ripcity..I have no more reason to believe he didn't write it than to believe every poster here has a secretary posting for them

I do agree with you, though I too contributed. It's just like one slap in the face after another, some people are tired of turning the other cheek. Ya know?

Dear Rip City, Fuck you!

Those two words on a page don't begin to express the disinterest I have for the entire Trail Blazers organization, my teammates, the media, and you fans. Especially you fans. The past nine years have been a bore, a chore, and I'm a whore, so I will take all of Paul's valuable cash with me as I head back home. Did I mention Fuck you?

As I just don't give a damn about Portland or the Blazers, know that the reasons for my decision are none of your business. Although I will be wearing a different uniform the next time I come back to Portland (I don't want to come back, but it's in the contract that I have to), and although I fucked your team 7 ways to Sunday with my indecisiveness, please don't boo me. It hurts my widdle feewings. I know that I will always hold my time in a Blazers uniform near and dear to my heart. Just kidding, I don't have one of those.

Your fiend, LA (hey, at least I didn't join the Lakers... so we are good, right?)

Ok buddy

If LA really wrote this, there would be like fifty "um's" punctuating the text.

I'm in favor of letting people vent. LMA got what he wanted, he's happy. If trashing LMA makes some of us fans happy I'm all for it.

Someone should tweet this to LaMarcus.

"Dear LaMarco Aldrich, Thanks for playing. Enjoy your door prize. You're now less popular than Darius Miles. Sincerely (insert name here)"

Lamarcus is a bitch. Fuck him and his "thank you" he can go Fuck himself and I will boo the shit out if him when he returns. What a fucking pussy

Come on now...why hate him personally? I have no vitriol for LA as a human being. I didn't like his style of play, but it's a free country and if he wants to play in San Antonio, go for it.

I admit, it started out being the car wreck I couldn't take my eyes off of, but now it's getting a little creepy. Dude's a basketball player who went to play basketball on another team. He wrote a note and said thanks for the support. Cool. There will be more basketball players come through, and some will be good and some bad. You may like a few, and probably hate most.

Looking forward to watching him develop. Looking forward to the entirely new group of players coming in....Kind of a big mystery. Entertaining times ahead.
