Letter from LaMarcus Aldridge to Rip City

Welcome to our community

I admit, it started out being the car wreck I couldn't take my eyes off of, but now it's getting a little creepy. Dude's a basketball player who went to play basketball on another team. He wrote a note and said thanks for the support. Cool. There will be more basketball players come through, and some will be good and some bad. You may like a few, and probably hate most.

Looking forward to watching him develop. Looking forward to the entirely new group of players coming in....Kind of a big mystery. Entertaining times ahead.

Why do you expect us, the supporters of the Portland Trailblazers Basketball Club, to understand? That just blows my mind.

Come on now...why hate him personally? I have no vitriol for LA as a human being. I didn't like his style of play, but it's a free country and if he wants to play in San Antonio, go for it.
Yeah he can play in San Antonio, no problem, just don't drag us along the way and pledge to us you are here to stay. Don't lie. Don't meet with 7 teams and keep us hanging till last night. I don't understand why some fans are giving this dude a pass. This letter was obviously not written by him and it's a pathetic excuse for a letter. That's all? that's a letter? damn. Yeah we are moving on but this just happened today and we are still bitter. That's just what happens after your franchise player bounces and slaps the fans in the face. Without the fans, there is no Lamarcus. There is no money for him.

Not yet, I'm waiting for people to get nice and drunk after fireworks.

Remember when Steve Kerr was in college? His dad (a state department official) was murdered by Arab terrorists. Rival schools would taunt him with "where's your dad?" signs.

THAT'S being mean...we are just lobbing water ballons.

Dear Rip City, Thank you!

Those two words on a page don't begin to express the gratitude I have for the opportunity the entire Trail Blazers organization, my teammates, the media, and you fans gave me. The past nine years have been a blessing, and I will take all of the valuable memories with me as I head back home.

As I'm sure you can respect, my decision was a very personal one but not one I took lightly. Although I will be wearing a different uniform the next time I come back to Portland, please know that I will always hold my time in a Blazers uniform near and dear to my heart.

Your friend, LA
Is that a mad lib

Dear L.A.

Still hate you.

P.S.

Still hate you

P.S.

Break a leg

I would have been more susceptable to a genuine communication had he not picked the seediest burrow on the farm to carry it. Bad form LMA.

And they wonder why free agents don't flock to Portland?
The fact that he looked at Phoenix, LA, Sac. is contrary to everything he said about why he might leave. He wasn't looking at places for basketball reasons or being close to home reasons (he was going to take a meeting with MY!), he was looking to get away from Dame, pure and simple. His character as a jealous baby was revealed.

As for the letter, I don't know how long you've been an NBA fan, but it has been documented that many of these types of letters in the past have come from the player's agents. In this particular case, I think the agent pounded it out in 3 to 6 minutes. It didn't even come from his twitter account.

Can Aldridge even write that well

At least there was some acknowledgement of the fan base and their support, even if his only involvement was telling his PR to write a thank you. That is still more than we have gotten from Wes/Rolo so far.

Where did it come from? In this thread, SlyPokerDog delivered it.

Actually, iirc the story right, it was the other Arizona School (ASU I believe) that was chanting "wheres your daddy?" at him. And if my memory serves me, he went off on them and lead his team to victory.

They don't come because of the fans? Are you being serious?

Blazers fans are about as loyal as it gets, relatively speaking.

I really really hope la reads this forum..

Because la. You can go Fuck uourself. These nine years , rip city wanted to love you. We really did. I remember agreeing with Kp and thinking Aldridge could be our best player, best scorer. I don't care if Aldridge told you to say anything. The fact that you said it.. is all on you. If I was guaranteed millions, and someone told me to say something I didn't believe. I would tell them no. That I am not going to say something I don't believe in. The fact you said it and there Olshey under the bus makes you a fucking douche.

I hope you never win a title

Rip city hates your fucking guts. I'm going to wipe my ass with your jersey. And burn the shit out if it. lillard is way more of a real dude then you will ever be. He deserves our love. He is what rip city is all about. You're a fool. And we have had our franchise player the last three years. Damian lillard. Not your fucking punk ass.

And they wonder why free agents don't flock to Portland?

Well, I'm willing to bet it's the historical lack of cap space that plays a big role in it, and not a fringe group of Blazer fans venting that one of their players left the team in a real slimy way.

Oh you mean like when Cleveland's owner wrote a letter to James? The Cleveland fans burning their Jerseys? Yeah it sure kept those free agents away didn't it?

Not enough hotels....oh wait that's the allstar game

How about something like this:
