  • U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick says factory gigs are the “great jobs of the future” that Gen Z could work in for the "rest" of their life—and so could their grandkids. But the workforce’s youngest cohort probably won’t be running to fill the roles.
Some white collar workers may be on the brink of layoffs thanks to AI, but the Secretary of Commerce says they will always have a place in America’s factories. As the U.S. puts up high tariffs and curbs immigration, the administration hopes to fuel an intergenerational manufacturing boom.

“It’s time to train people not to do the jobs of the past, but to do the great jobs of the future,” Howard Lutnick told CNBC this week.

“This is the new model, where you work in these plants for the rest of your life, and your kids work here, and your grandkids work here.”

NYC fast talker.....weird we went from Joe who didnt show himself much, and cant say I blame him, as his team kept him low, to someone who is playing the transparency card to the hilt with a team that is ass kissing.
But I also got sick of politicians sucking up and telling lies, and leading people on for votes. Then flip flop.
Both parties have so much hate for each other, no way they can ever compromise on anything anymore. While, young people watch & adults lead by example.
Im really hope there is a new party the rises from all this bs that can, mediate, conciliate, and arbitrate along with compromise.
The extremes on both sides are one of the same, really.

Look, factory jobs are important and they do help keep everything running, but it's one thing to want to work those jobs and have a sense of pride. It's another thing to try to pigeonhole people into thinking it's the ONLY choice, which is what this is implying.

Fuck all the way off with this shit.

Yeah isn’t the modern American dream literally along the lines of having as many dolls as you want/earn and for your children to have a better life than you? They are quite frankly saying the American dream is dead.

No kid needs twenty dolls. That will just spoil them and create a sense of entitlement.

But, yeah it's an apt metaphor for the death of the American dream.
 
Sure no one needs them nor do grown men need boats and quads and jeeps but IMO if they worked for it they can have whatever they want. That’s all I mean.
 
Not by accident Trumpers keep using examples of ridiculous number of dolls. Who plays with dolls? Little girls. Weak, silly spoiled, unimportant, crying little girls. Anyone who complains about price hikes or shortages due to tariffs is just acting like a little girl.
 
Walmart announced they are raising prices due to Trump tariffs.

Got groceries today. So much of what I need for baking is imported. Sugar, vanilla, chocolate, cinnamon, ginger, many nuts. The cheap olive oil I get to polish stainless steel has gone up. I wouldn't ever eat that stuff. Aluminum for foil.
 
So, the big beautiful budget got bounced today because the guys who voted against it didn’t think it was awful enough to folks on Medicaid and clean energy programs? Gotta cut that deficit somehow without making the rich pay their share.

I blame the democratic committee for flat out losing to a guy they should have beat handily. I hope there is a change in leadership and strategy for 2028, if there isn't then we a fucked for the long haul.
 
European imports aren't just French wine and Swiss cheese. I just learned most European imports are manufacturing intermediates, precision parts, tools and components. American manufacturers will pay more due to Trump tariffs,asking American manufactured goods less competitive on world market due to higher prices.
Because in Trump's demented senile minds America was great during McKinley term late 19th century. When the citizenry was white, women couldn't vote, and tariffs caused massive recession. So he starts trade wars with allies and crashes economy.
