Lillard overrated?

Yep mags. The best 400 out of a pool of 20,000 will put up slightly better advanced stats than the best 20 out of a pool of 80.

See, you made a strawman and got me to argue it. Your logic hurts to read that bad.

Strawman. Guess it's okay when you use it, but oh man if I use it, you get bent. Is it the time of the month again Denny?

Are you sure? I said "I'm just pointing out that your statement that Lillard was better in the statistics that matter is wrong." <-- That is exactly the the case. Sorry but the stat metric of PER, Points, Rebounds (added plus), Assists are "STATS THAT MATTER" for a PG.

"It" was not better than Lillards.

It = rookie season.

The subject was rookie season. The subject was not rookie STATS.

If it was "it" you would have no argument from me. But that wasn't what you said. You said Lillard was better in stats that matter. That "is" wrong.

Who else on here thinks that Damon had a better rookie season than Lillard?

So, let me get this straight.

You think that Lillard is better than Damon and had a better rookie season.

BUT, you think that Damon's "stats that matter" were better.

If the "stats that matter" mean anything, then you have a problem reconciling your conflicting opinions.

I had huge hopes for Damon before he joined the Blazers and then ended up hating his game while he was here.

Magic Johnson had a really good rookie season.

Team + 13 wins, championship.

Strawman

Me: A huge % of the guys who went from HS to the pros are among the best who ever played
Strawman: Duncan went to college and he's among the best who ever played

No I'm not using stats. I'm using drive, ethics, eye test and leadership qualities. His head is way more valuable than Damon

Unless he learns to play some D, I would totally trade him for Kyrie.

Says the person who doesn't seem to realize Kyrie was hurt ALL of the last 3 seasons. Nope, he was not healthy in any of them.

And don't think for a NY MINUTE that Kyrie has ANY Defense. Because he does not. He is EQUALLY as bad as Lillard in this department.

I'll take the healthy kid (bringing up the broken foot Lillard's JR season is foolish) over the one who is injured every season.

Here's why you don't trade Lillard for Kyrie (even if the deal was available):

1. Contract. Kyrie was a #1 Pick and his salary is WAY higher than Lillard's. (he was picked a year before Lillard. we wouldn't start negotiations for another year)

2. Same Upside. I don't see either having more upside than the other. (feel free to debate this)

3. Kyrie seems more laid back while Lillard seems more intense and has more of a chip on his shoulder (small school/big school syndromes).

Of note, the person who said Lillard is a Nets blogger... I wonder if he's bitter about having Wallace instead of the Lillard pick.

It's funny that a Nets blogger would have that opinion, because if there is an overrated "elite" PG in the game, it's Deron Williams and his career PER of 19.

What bullshit. Lillard was just a rookie last season. He got a lot of minutes because we had zero depth, but that hardly helped his stats. And, his "just a tick above league average" PER of 16.4 was better than Derrick Rose's rookie PER of 16.0.

BNM

Not to mention "elite" Deron Williams' rookie PER of 12, and 2nd-year PER of 17.

There is a major difference between a rookie that played one year of college, and a rookie that played for years of college. Lillard put up great numbers because he came into the league NBA ready. I'm not saying he won't improve from his rookie year (and if he doesn't I wont be disappointed), I'm saying that it's not fair to compare Irving's rookie year to Lillard's rookie year and expect that same of jump.

Nolan Smith came into the league "NBA-ready". :MARIS61:

It's ok to call someone overrated and not dis them. The Lillard hype is everywhere, and I think all the guy is saying is that he has only played a year.
