Lillard + Powell + Kawhi + Siakam + Nurk = Championship

Out 6-9 mos. Just in time to get in shape for the playoffs.

Dude, if Blazers can Trade CJ for Siakam and get Kawhi to come here for cheap (He would have to as Blazers don't have the space) that would be amazing. Wouldn't have any problem filling out the roster with ring chasers.

Dame/Smart/Portis/Covington/Nurk with Billups coaching? Not the kind of team you want to meet in a dark alley.

I'm sure the main reason we signed Billups was because he's going to talk Kawhi into coming here.
I'll settle for Batum. I mean, I'd prefer Kawhi, but Batum actually might happen, at least if Billups and he bonded. He played really well for the Clips last year (made 110 3 pointers at a 40% clip, averaged +5 per game), and he would instantly be our second-best PG (especially if CJ is traded).

I would play Nic a lot if we got him as a free agent but I'd still start RoCo. I think Dame, Norm, RoCo, Siakam, Nurk (if he'll start dunking it), Nic, Ant, Nas and DJJ would be a rotation that could hang with anyone and have a realistic expectation to get to the conference finals and actually win a game or two. That team would be dominant defensively and they aren't having any trouble scoring either. It does not equal a championship necessarily but it would be a few big steps closer to one than we've been.

He was kinda crap against Phoenix in the playoffs.

Yep but like I've been saying about Simmons this entire off season, evaluating through small sample sizes is a horrible way to come to a conclusion.

In the playoffs overall... especially when you take into account how Phoenix made him less effective, he was great. This season he was really great. We could definitely use what he brings to the table but like I said, I wouldn't be planning on starting him and if he was struggling that rotation I was proposing has many options so we can just sit him.

I could see it happening. It's gotten quiet on all fronts. Calm before the storm. Billups has some pull.

Oh and Crazy Eyes Bobby Portis just opted out. Go get him

A man can't even drink his morning coffee in peace, got me spitting it out all over my keyboard. I laughed way harder at this than I should have. :biglaugh:

I think we’re looking at this all wrong. We know we don’t have the resources to bring enough quality players here to win a title, but our current roster absolutely can win…if we take out some players on other teams. This is not new in Oregon where our own little golden girl, Tonya Harding, had a crew try to take out the competition. What’s Jeff Gilhooly, er, Stone or whatever, up to today?

Murder wins championships.

I used to dance with Tonya at the old Copper Penny many years ago. We hung out quite a bit actually. She was a blast back then.

I highly doubt that trade will materialize as be part of Blazers luck. For years, we have heard Portland is not a free agent destination or trade market choice and your scenario is not a high percentage but the fantasy is cool .

Oh, I am well aware it is fantasy sir, but a Blazer fan can dream

Realistically, with the assets we have, we have to hope for Chauncey to pull some magic to put us in a position to win a championship, regardless of the moves we make.
