Lucky for The HCP, he and Dame both wear size 12s. #hookup
Just do me a favor and ask him to demand that they make AND stock size 15 wide please. Every so often I find some Nikes my size but it is very rare.

Seriously? He's getting paid in Portland, so he won't feel the need to make money in a bigger market.

I realize it's probably a non-issue, but I still though it worth mentioning.

Sweet adidas will pay off refs just in time for playoffs chamionship talk can resume.

If anything, i think this will help bring bigger name players here. Now they see a guy can get a huge show deal even in small Portland.

That's the first thing I thought. This shows other potential star players that they can still get the big endorsement deals if they play in Portland. Good news.

I wish he would have gone with Nike. I like their hoop shoes 100x better than Adidas.

I FUCKING LOVE THIS!! I referee games at Adidas. They pay me in shoes. My son is about to get 10 pair (while I get 4-5).

Can anyone say Father/Son Lillards?!?!:clap::clap::clap:

This past all star games, my friend who used to work for Nike, said Lillard just hustled himself an extra 25 mil. Interesting, but I think going out for a bunch of competitions from 3pt, dunk, all-star game, .... and becoming a real live story for the week really put Lillad on the map as a truly unique basketball star.

Adidas is going to have a HUGE ad campaign to support that contract. Lillard will be marketed world wide. He'll even be in Brazil for the World Cup.

I heard Lillard is now playing for the US Men's Soccer team.

So of course he'll be in Brazil for World Cup.

As a ref, I don't believe you should be getting any extra compensation on the side like that.......#Shady #DoneheyStyle #PrisonTime

^ OH SNAP!

HCP makes a legit point - a ref should know better!

Just like you occasionally speak to a REAL female that you don't have to inflate?

How dare you say that about Mrs. HCP - are you calling her an airhead?

I don't think she'd approve.

I took it as he refs games at adidas, and is thus compensated for reffing games there. Would it make any difference if adidas gave him money, and then he went and bought the shoes? Or, is he supposed to ref the games for free?

As long as they are putting a dollar amount on those shoes they pay him in and giving him a 1099 at the end of the year then it is all copacetic. Personally I would prefer a check but they save money giving them shoes instead I would assume.

As adidas continues to market Lillard more, the question will be whether he can break out of the Portland market, which could be a challenge. It's not impossible, as both James and Durant became marketing icons playing in Cleveland and Oklahoma City, respectively.

From the article.

I don't exactly know what they mean by "Break out of the Portland market". Are they saying that he should try to LeBron out of here? Or if he'll gain a ton of notoriety while still being in Portland? Because, if that's the case... it's not that big of a reach to just put a shit ton of Blazers games on national TV... not like there is a bunch of options for west coast games on the double header. And the Lakers suck, so..

But, I believe Dame to be a loyal person. I think he's a RFA after his rookie deal anyway, so we'd match any max deal (Plus, IIRC, we can give him an extra year). So, I'm not too worried... just, I hate the business model of the NBA and professional sports in general.

Jesus, maybe this will show other nba players that they can get big deals while playing in Portland. Lillard now doesn't have much incentive to bolt to a big market. It would be cool of him to take a low contract so we can afford more talent.

Epic!

Just curious, but do people think of Adidas as a "hometown" company because their North American headquarters is in PDX? I do to some extent.

Being a corporation they probably give away rejects like shoes with a tiny scuff they cant sell as new. So they write them off and use them to get out of paying people. Win/win for the corp. Lose/lose for tax payers.

Yes, to an extent. Obviously not in the same way Nike is a hometown company.
But then Nike is in Beaverton whereas adidas is actually in Portland...
