I remembered one game; maybe rookie or 2nd year; where he scored 30 points in 3 quarters. Not saying he can do it every game; but this kid has some fucking skills people. The amazing thing is I keep thinking and comparing him like Sheed, but with work ethic. If that holds true; he maybe considered a talent of even Garnett stature.

All he needs is desire to want to be that guy. If we could somehow implant Roy's heart and desire in LMA's body; we would have the best player to ever play 5 in the game. AND I'M SERIOUS!

I really can't believe that some people are willing to trade him after he's proven to constantly improve each and every year. He has hardly reached his ceiling.

Agreed, with some fine tuning (new moves) he should get a good shot off every time and/or get to the line. With a little work he can be unstoppable.

And, he still hasn't earned that official's respect like allstars do. I think he needs to make the team before he gets it. Once the officials call each time he's hit while going up; he will make it to the line more.

Aldridge is a fine player who has improved every season. I think he is very close to his ceiling now though..he would have been an excellent 3rd option if Roy and Oden had lived up to their expectations.

Unfortunately that did not happen and LMA is going to be asked to carry a team... not exactly fair.

Let's slow down...... if he gives me the same #'s he did last season for the rest of his career, I'm one happy 1/2 Mexican!

But like I pointed out with KG's stats. I disagree with you. I think Aldridge has way more upside. If anything, a chance to become a leader. Each year he has improved his rebounding, FG%, attempts at the line and points. Why would you think that can't improve?

Well, what LMA doesn't have that KG has is the ability to face up, put the ball on the floor and consistently score. Right now he has a nice little jump hook and can hit a face up J. He does not have the ability to put the Rock on the floor and create.

Thats a pretty tall order to ask him to become KG. I would not hold your breath.

These threads are nuts! Are you guys still fishing for a silver lining? LMA will never be as good as KG, get over it. He's a nice player, but superstar he isn't.

Uncanny indeed

Year 1... Aldridge (Zach was still in town so he had very little minutes). 9.0 PPG, 50.3% FG, 5 rebounds, 1.2 blocks. KG: Being the only big man on the team. 10.4 ppg, 6.3 rebounds, 1.6 bpg 49% FG

Year 2... Aldridge 17.8 ppg, 7.6 rebounds, 48% FG, 1.2 bpg - KG: 17 ppg, 8 rpg, 2.1 bpg, 49.9% FG

Year 3... Aldridge 18.1 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 48.4% FG, 1 bpg - KG: 18.5 ppg, 9.6 rpg, 49.1% FG, 1.8 bpg

Year 4... Aldridge 17.9 ppg, 8 rpg, 0.6 bpg, 49.5% FG - KG: 20.8 ppg, 10.4 rpg, 46% FG, 1.8 bpg

Year 5... Aldridge 21.8 ppg, 8.8 rpg, 1.2 bpg, 50% FG - KG: 22.9 ppg, 11.8 rpg, 1.6 bpg, 49.7% FG

Yeah very uncanny

I don't think we'll see LMA reach his full potential until we get a PG.

As mediocre as Andre Miller was (twilight of his career) LMA looked great.

Garnett could guard PG's and averaged close to 5 assists a game

Aldridge has a better post game though, as well as catching oop's

See this is why I get all bent man. You act like what you've seen the past 5-6 years was how KG played his entire career. That face-up you've mentioned didn't happen until 02-03; which he was already in the league for 8 years. He, just like LMA, had to learn it. It's and only if LMA wants it bad enough to be a player like KG.

C'Mon, Dre wasn't mediocre. Old, but still better then most!

Exactly. I was a big KG fan back in the Minnesota days, it definitely took him a while to hone those face-up skills. . LMA still has a ways to go to reach his ceiling, and by all accounts he's doing what it takes to get there.

Why was this in green?

 prick

Well, I guess we will see right? But the bottom line is that every player has limits to what they can do..I'm sure Luke Babbitt works just as hard as Larry Bird did, but I doubt they will be making McDonalds commercials with Luke anytime soon.

Just because you want LMA to be as good as KG and he works hard, does not mean it will happen.

Oh gimme a break, sure they will. You'll see him in the background dipping in the fry basket.

I don't understand how anyone can question LA's heart/desire anymore. I would argue that he squelched all that last season. He came in with a new body (amazing what an off season of strength training can do), and a new attitude last year. You used to see him struggle to get low post position. Stronger 4/5s could push out to the perimeter and make him settle for jumpers. They said he was soft & didn't like to bang down low. But last year he lived in the paint. Even though he was logging ridiculous minutes because our front line was so thin, he battled every night. I used to question his toughness, but I think he proved it last year. He gave everything he had, especially in the playoff series vs Dallas. Don't you remember him battling with Chandler & Haywood? And by the way Lamarcus, why don't you go guard Dirk for a while as well? He played himself to the point of exhaustion time after time. I can now say I love his toughness, and his heart.

Now, was he clutch? Not always. He had a chance to hit a few game winners and came up short (at home vs the Lakers comes to mind), and he had his struggles late in games at the FT line. But replacing Brandon Roy as the "go-to-guy" is a tough act to follow. Not many guys are anywhere near that clutch. But you did see LA start to look for his shot in those situations last season, which wasn't always the case. Can he improve his game? Of course, but it's not effort or heart that he needs.

Well I don't think anyone in here would disagree that Aldridge has the talent to be just as good as KG. I think the true agrument is the mental fortitude. Does Aldridge want to be the best? Will he try just as hard or demand it on the court?

many in here might not disagree with that ..but just about every NBA observer outside of Portland forums would tell you that LMA is not in the same ballpark at KG was in his prime.

Take this idea into some non Portland NBA forums and see what kind of responses you get... I bet you will be surprised.
