I guess being a beaver fan is more about rooting against the Ducks than it is about rooting for the Beavers.

Not really. But close. You are allowed to step off that bandwagon now by the way.

There's plenty of room on the beaver bandwagon right? I could probably get my pick of seats!

Ahhhh, Duck fan tears. Soooooooooo tasty. ;-)

Soon, very soon, the over hyped and over rated, Phil Knight facade will come crumbling back down to reality.

^ Someone's panties are still in a bunch.

Personally (and I've caught flak here in the past for this), I root for OSU and UO to succeed. I didn't attend either school. I partied a ton at both. I had UO friends that we'd all head to OSU and party with our HS friends, and vice versa. I started out more OSU for basketball, UO for football, but now root for both teams to be successful.

That being said, more than anything, I was simply disappointed with the Ducks' performance on Thursday. I felt like it was evident from the start they weren't totally ready to play football (cue Byron Marshall wide-open pass dropped on the Ducks' 4th down of opening drive). And I feel like they have a real lack of discipline (cue "The Bow" - sure, terrible, terrible call, but a terribly stupid action, too). My reaction was more in disbelief and surprise. It was easy for me to laugh at them because they just didn't come ready to play, and they made a lot of poor decisions.

I always try to be realistic. I wasn't upset at the penalty for celebrating because I thought it was out of line. It was on a third down. There was another down to play. He ran to mid field and bowed. I think he would have gotten a flag in the nfl as well.

With that said, I think there are some people who care more about a duck loss than they do a beaver win. I don't hate the beavs. I root for both Oregon schools. It just amazes me how much some people hate the ducks.

What reality are you speaking of? The one where both schools go back to being the two worst college football teams in the nation? The one where "experts" are saying that both teams should leave the Pac-10 (now Pac-12) because they can't compete?

The Ducks and Beavers success has been good for each other and more importantly it's been great for the state of Oregon.

We're keeping the vast majority of our top in state talent now.

Both programs have made huge improvements to facilities.

Both programs have been able to get donors involved and supporting the teams.

Both programs have grown to where one if not both are competing for a Pac-12 title every year.

And to you that's what? A facade? Not reality? Not fair? Not right?

No the ducks are going to magically fall apart after being on the rise for like 20 years. It's all coming down. Burn your jerseys. End of an era.

Beavs fans generally can't admit it, but they are little brother and uber-jelly. You can't blame them for the hate. It's like the small market vs. large market that we discuss re: NBA free agency and the Blazers. The Ducks are big-time, glitz-and-glam, cash-rich, glammed out in Nikes and state-of-the-art facilities. They get the top prospects.

The Beavers are all potato salad and burritos. The hate is odd, but it comes with the territory.

This article seems to support he Ducks being big market

http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2014/10/03/upshot/ncaa-football-fan-map.html?abt=0002&abg=0

There are counties in fucking Maine of all places that have the Ducks tied for number one.

You sound exactly like a Laker fan. Maybe it's your attitude that makes others root against you...?

Something to think about.

He already said he isn't a duck fan. He likes both schools.

If duck fans are like laker fans, you guys are basically West Virginia. I've never seen so much hunting camouflage in one place. Get yourself a michelob and put on some duck dynasty yeeeeeeeehaw!

LOL Jesus..... I figured you'd reply. I merely point out to the bandwagon fans that their beloved, holier than thou, team of the mighty "ducks" which they vehemently defend (as if they've been fans for all of their lives, or as long as they have known about Colleges) will be crashing down from the pedestal that they've put them on.

And to answer one of your questions; the reality of the Ducks going to where they belong, maybe a top 10-20 rank (certainly not rank 1-5).

I feast on Duck-bandwagon fan tears. They are delicious.

Please, please do. Well unless you're not a bandwagon fan, in that case, I am sorry for your loss. :)

I have a Rickey whittle jersey that I got when I was 12. That was over 20 years ago. That's an awfully long time to be on a band wagon.

I was born ans raised a ducks fan. Loved them. Then I went to school on Corvallis. Things change big time and you realize what most duck fans act like. There are great duck fans for sure, but a lot of them are complete douchebags.

You wouldn't understand unless you attended Oregon state.

This could literally be said about any successful program.

Sure about the douchebag fans part. But duck fans seem to take it to another level. Attend Oregon state for awhile and you'll find that out.

I grew up loving the ducks, still liked them my freshman year at osu. Now I hate them and love to see them lose.

No, in that analogy we'd be the Blazers you dope. Why would we be another college team?

And it's hard to take your insults seriously when you're dressed in pink and crying.

Why would I be crying? I wasn't surprised that we lost. You're not very good at this trash talk.

And no, OSU would not be the Blazers of that equation. You're the Memphis or the Utah or the Oklahoma City. I've been to games at Reser and god damn if it isn't the most redneck shit I've ever seen in my life. A close second would be a gunshow or a chewing tobacco convention.

Well at least you're correctly using professional teams now. Way to go. My point stands regardless of which team you'd prefer to assign to the Beavers in this analogy...

Don't be the Lakers, be the Spurs.

Because I have control over that kind of thing? Any successful team is going to have a ton of band wagon annoying fans. Look at the Heat. How many Cav fans will suddenly appear?

You can start with yourself. Lots of work to do.

And I'm not expecting it to change, simply providing an explanation as to why other fan bases may dislike you so much.

I couldn't care less if a fanbase likes or dislikes me or fans of a team I like. I said that I find it sort of pathetic that the beaver fanbase hates the ducks so much that they root against the ducks more than they root for the Beavers.

Yeah you clearly could care less... haha

If you really think Beaver fans care more about the Ducks losing than the Beavers winning, that really underscores just how arrogant you are.

Just going by this site, it seems like most Duck fans like the Beavers and want them to win every game but the CW, and you never see any Beaver fans talking about college football until the Ducks lose, then it's open season (see what i did there?). As someone that has gone to neither school and likes both (and would probably rather go to OSU actually), there is definitely some pent up aggression and i suspect jealousy involved.

Ducks fans thinking we want them to lose more than the beavs to win just bleeds the arrogance they have.

A beavs win is much more important.

But I will admit a ducks loss does get my dick hard
